Support Hunting Heritage Opportunities Act HR 2834
NSSF Legislative Alert

National Shooting Sports Foundation

NEWTOWN, Conn –-(Ammoland.com)- The National Shooting Sports Foundation (NSSF) — the trade association for the firearms industry — is urging all sportsmen to support H.R. 2834, the Recreational Fishing and Hunting Heritage Opportunities Act.

The bill, which is currently being considered in the House Natural Resources Committee, has strong bi-partisan support.

This important legislation would re-establish hunting, fishing and recreational shooting as important traditional activities that have a key place on the public lands administered by the U.S. Forest Service and the Bureau of Land Management.

The NSSF is deeply concerned that failure to specifically provide for continued fishing, hunting, and recreational shooting on these lands will lead to reduced opportunities and diminished support for conservation.

By requiring federal land managers to support and facilitate use and access for hunting, fishing and recreational shooting, the Recreational Fishing and Hunting Heritage Opportunities Act would establish an appropriate “open until closed” management regime for these activities which would allow more Americans to utilize the public lands that they own.

Please take a few minutes to contact your representative in Washington, D.C., and urge him or her to support of this pro-hunting, pro-conservation and pro-industry bill.
