The book’s first chapter is all about safety. Other chapters describe different types of firearms and explain how they work. The book explores a wide variety of shooting sports, from shotgun sports like skeet and sporting clays to precision rifle matches and action handgun and nostalgia shooting sports. Basic skills, practice techniques, and dealing with competition stress are also covered. One chapter deals with shooting issues of particular concern to women.

In time for the holidays, with the help of Smith & Wesson, Julie is offering personalized, autographed bookmarks for those who have pre-ordered Shoot. The offer is limited to the first 500 individual requests through December 17, 2011. For more details about the offer visit juliegolob.com/bookmark-offer .
