London, England –-(Ammoland.com)- The 2012 Olympic Games will be long remembered for the unique archery venue and history-making accomplishments by the world’s best archers; X10 shooters, or “GenX10” as they’ve now been dubbed.
KI Bo-bae of Korea and Aida ROMAN of Mexico thrilled the crowd with a first-ever shoot-off for the women’s gold-medal title.
Ki, who earlier in the week won the team gold medal with her teammates, CHOI Hyeon-ju and LEE Sung-jin, took Roman to a 5-5 tie in the individual gold medal final. Ultimately, one last shot closest to the center of the target would determine the champion. With an equal score achieved by both shooters, the decision for the gold came down to a measurement by the judges.
The final measurement found Ki’s X10 arrow incrementally closer to the center than Roman’s, giving Ki the gold and Roman silver. Roman’s teammate, Mariana AVITIA, took the bronze earlier in the day. Avitia and Roman thus gave Mexico its first-ever Olympic Archery medals.
Made-in-USA X10 arrow shafts contributed to all the historic events that defined London 2012, with every men’s and women’s archery title won using Easton’s flagship target archery product. This makes five straight Olympic Games where all the titles have gone to “Gen X10” athletes.
