Tehama County, Calif. –-( Pheasant hunters and conservationists in and around Red Bluff, California, have formed the state’s newest Pheasants Forever chapter.

Known as the Red Bluff Pheasants Forever chapter, the group is dedicated to getting local youth involved in outdoor and conservation activities.

The Red Bluff Pheasants Forever chapter is led by President Brian Riley of Red Bluff. An avid pheasant hunter and owner of Red Banks Outfitters, Riley is concentrated on giving youth the opportunity to experience the great outdoors.

“Getting youth involved with California’s outdoor heritage is priority number one for the Red Bluff Pheasants Forever chapter,” notes Riley. “Without their participation, there will be no one to safeguard California’s spectacular wildlife.”

Brian Riley and chapter Treasurer Judy Oswald’s belief and support of youth outdoor education is demonstrated in their formation of Kids Outdoor Sports Camp, hosted by Red Banks Outfitters. A summer camp that introduces youth to hunting, shooting fishing and the outdoors, Kids Outdoors Sports Camp has approximately 200 participants per year, including youth from as far away as Taiwan and Thailand.

“Getting kids to spend a week at camp, leaving their electronic devices at home is one of our criteria at camp. It doesn’t take a day for them to get involved in life as it used to be, and they are amazed that they can live without the constant distraction of these devices,” says Oswald.

“The Red Bluff Pheasants Forever chapter will be a catalyst for getting youth involved with California’s rich natural resources,” states Dan Connelly, Pheasants Forever California regional representative. “Today’s youth too often lack the guidance and opportunity to fully experience the outdoors, so a determined group of leaders like the Red Bluff Pheasants will do wonders for getting youth offline and outdoors. I am looking forward to the great things they will accomplish.”
