Washington DC – -( Among the amendments contained within the Bill of Rights, the Founding Fathers only designated the 2nd Amendment as “necessary to the security of a free state.”

Does this mean they had a low view of the other rights protected by the remainder of the first 10 amendments to the Constitution? Far from it, they understood that without the rights protected by the 2nd Amendment the exercise of all other would crumble over time.

In other words, the right to keep and bear arms guarantees or lends integrity to the right to freedom of speech and religion (1st Amendment), and to the right to possess private property and security “in our persons, houses, papers, and effects” (3rd and 4th Amendment), and so on.

The phrase “necessary to the security of a free state” tells us that while the other amendments are protecting their specific rights, the 2nd Amendment is protecting the right to keep and bear arms and all the other rights as well.

Think about it this way — in a wagon wheel there are many spokes. Think of each of those spokes as a different amendment in the Bill of Rights. There is a spoke for freedom of speech and religion, for states' rights (10th Amendment), for protection from cruel and unusual punishment (8th Amendment), and so on. But all these various spokes would fall to the ground without being held in place by a hub in the center of the wheel.

That hub is the 2nd Amendment, which represents the only right our Founders described as “necessary to the security of a free state.” Take it away, and the rest of the Bill of Rights will collapse in time, guaranteed.

    1. To the moron who posted the lies about Germany, Hitler and gun control, you’ve got some homework to do, pal:

A common belief among defenders of the Second Amendment to the U.S. Constitution is that the National Socialist government of Germany under Adolf Hitler did not permit the private ownership of firearms … Unfortunately for those who would like to link Hitler and the National Socialists with gun control, the entire premise for such an effort is false. German firearms legislation under Hitler, far from banning private ownership, actually facilitated the keeping and bearing of arms by German citizens by eliminating or ameliorating restrictive laws which had been enacted by the government preceding his …

      Gun Control in Germany, 1928-1945
William L. Pierce — Booklet Available from IHR

This 48-page booklet debunks the often-repeated lie that Hitler disarmed the German people and seized their guns. Shows that Hitler actually restored many firearms rights taken away by the previous liberal government. With the complete texts, in English translation and original German, of the relevant firearms laws and ordinances.”

Secondly, if you or anybody else still hasn’t figured out who it is who is now and who has always been behind the effort to disarm American citizens, here is another piece of evidence that even a moron should be able to absorb:

U.S. Federal Gun Control Legislation, 1968 — present
Emanuel Celler(Ashkenazi Jew), Democratic Representative from New York(1923 — 1973)
      Howard M. Metzenbaum(Ashkenazi Jew), Democratic Senator from Ohio(1974, 1976 — 1995)
Carl M. Levin(Ashkenazi Jew), Democratic Senator from Michigan(1979 — present)
      Thomas P. “Tom” Lantos(Ashkenazi Jew), Democratic Representative from California(1981 — 2008)
Arlen Specter(Ashkenazi Jew), Democratic Senator from Pennsylvania(1981 — present)
Charles E. “Chuck” Schumer(Ashkenazi Jew), Democratic Senator from New York(1999 — present), Democratic Represenative from New York(1981-1999)
      Frank R. Lautenberg(Ashkenazi Jew), Democratic Senator from New Jersey(1982 — 2001, 2003 — present)
      Barbara L. Boxer(Ashkenazi Jew), Democratic Senator from California(1993 — present), Democratic Representative from California(1983 — 1993)
Herbert H. “Herb” Kohl(Ashkenazi Jew), Democratic Senator from Wisconsin(1989 — present)
Dianne G. Feinstein(Ashkenazi Jew), Democratic Senator from California(1992 — present)
Jerrold L. Nadler(Ashkenazi Jew), Democratic Representative from New York(1992 — present)
Steven R. “Steve” Rothman(Ashkenazi Jew), Democratic Representative from New Jersey(1997 — present)

Still not convinced? Let’s visit The Forward, which is a jewish run website:

So, tell me, pal. How’s it feel to have just been horsewhipped with a Truth Whip?

    2. As long as “our” politicians think they have the right to “revisit” the 2nd Amendment, they might decide they have the right to “revisit” some OTHER Amendments. Let us look at the stats on WHO is doing the majority of the shooting, WHO is filling the jails and prisons…….. “Young Black Males”. Therefore, if your solution is to ban guns, why not ban “Young Black Males” as well ……
The Politicians have decided they can “reintroduce” TORTURE, so they might as well “revisit” the 13th Amendment and reintroduce SLAVERY.
The Republicans did not like all those Female votes gong to Obama, maybe they will “revisit” the 19th Amendment and END Women’s Sufferage(voting).
Pat Robertson and the Religious Fanatics want the 1st Amendment “revisited”, all Americans must become “born-again-pseudo-christians”.
I am sure you can add to the list.

    3. MEDIA ASSAULT THOUGHTS. There is no action that is not preceded by the thought and idea of the action, and MSM has immersed America in violent anti-social thoughts. and been publicly proud and boastful of it. The immersion of a society in the thoughts and ideas of senseless violence unaccompanied by consequences. The flooding of Media venues such as music, movies, video games, TV, with thoughts and ideas designed to induce violent behavior.

    4. If my government will not trust me with a SEMI-auto at Home, I sure as —-blazes will not carry a FULL-auto for THEM in some foreign land. These politicians do not want to trust US with weapons?! Then let THEM go fight the wars they cheer. Let Diane Feinstein carry a full pack and an M16 in Afghanistan, because I SURE WON’T !!!!!

    5. Not bad but missing a key ingredient. The Founders wanted the people armed, the article gets this right, & the govt disarmed, the article ignores this.

“What, Sir, is the use of a militia? It is to prevent the establishment of a standing army, the bane of liberty …. Whenever Governments mean to invade the rights and liberties of the people, they always attempt to destroy the militia, in order to raise an army upon their ruins.”

      — Rep. Elbridge Gerry of Massachusetts,
Floor debate over the Second Amendment [1789]

    6. I recently saw that there were 1.5 million registered gun owners in Germany, a nation of 85 million. An ownership rate of less than 2%.
The difference, In Germany, as in most of the world there is still a class system. Gun owners are most often from the privleged elites. Here in the US, the 2nd Amendment in part guarenteed that all citizens of a FREE country could possess arms. We must never forget that. Free men bare arms. Slaves and peasants don’t!

    7. Places where citizens have been forbidden to own weapons…

1911 – Turkey bans civilian ownership of firearms. From 1911 to 1917, 1.5 million Armenians, unable to defend themselves, were murdered.

1928 – Germany bans firearms. From 1939 to 1945, 13 million Jews, gypsies, homosexuals, the mentally ill & others, unable to defend themselves, were rounded up and exterminated.

1929 – The Soviet Union bans firearms. From 1929 to 1953, approximately 20 million dissidents, unable to defend themselves, were systematically eliminated.

1935 – China bans firearms. From 1948 to 1952, 20 million political dissidents were unable to defend themselves and were killed.

1956 – Cambodia bans firearms. From 1975 to 1977, one million “educated” people unable to defend themselves, were murdered.

1964 – Guatemala bans firearms. From 1964 to 1981, 100,000 Mayan Indians, unable to defend themselves, were rounded up and killed.

1970 – Uganda bans firearms. From 1971 to 1979, 300,000 Christians, unable to defend themselves, were exterminated. In one infamous incident, the habitants of a small village took refuge in a church, where every man, woman and child was massacred with guns and machetes as they were unable to physically defend themselves.

1995 – 6,000 Bosnian Muslims were massacred at Srebrenica in the ironically named “UN safe area” after having been disarmed first (a process aided by the UN).

    8. People that have guns having their guns taken away be people without guns. Talk about something that doesn’t make sense. At some point in time, apparently very soon, patriots are going to have to decide to put up or shut up. Al this blah blah blah will land you in a gulag. If you aren’t willing to fight (and I mean really fight…you know bang bang?) for freedom then you don’t deserve freedom. Where is our George Washington that raise the people up and stop this madness?
