Washington, D.C. – -(Ammoland.com)- Based on arguments presented by Safari Club International (SCI) the Minnesota Court of Appeals today dismissed a legal challenge to Minnesota’s wolf harvest.

The Court ruled that the Center for Biological Diversity (CBD) and Howling for Wolves failed to show their members were harmed by the process used by the Minnesota Department of Natural Resources to establish the state’s wolf season.

“The Minnesota Court of Appeals made the right decision today,” said SCI President Craig Kauffman. “SCI will remain at the forefront to challenge organizations like CBD at every turn. We hope that every hunter understands the threat that organizations like CBD play in undermining scientifically determined hunting seasons across the country.”

Earlier in the case, the state’s attorneys defeated the challengers’ attempts to shut down the wolf hunt on an emergency basis. SCI then joined the case to help defend the state’s rulemaking process. SCI’s brief and oral argument to the court focused on the animal rights groups’ lack of standing to challenge the rulemaking. The Minnesota Court agreed with SCI and ruled that the petitioners had failed to demonstrate that they had suffered any harm from the rulemaking. Instead, the Court found that the groups merely disagreed with the legislature’s policy of allowing wolf harvests and this was not a sufficient basis for bringing a legal challenge to the rules that administer that policy.

SCI’s in-house litigation attorneys were assisted by Minnesota local counsel Ryan Burt of the firm of Halleland Habicht PA. Burt is also President-Elect of SCI’s Minnesota Chapter.

    1. “Safari Club” more like butcher club. This old concept of a safari hunt belonged to the boors and the misguided British empire. That time is long past and most of us recognize that we are the stewards of the planet and try to equally space all beings living here in a safe enviroment that is unique to them. These guys sound like they have never read a book and hung around with thier cousins for to many generations. Someone should tell them to stop living in the past.

    2. Good for SCI…!!!! Gives our hunters a chance to hunt a few of those deer & moose killing wolves !!!!! Go get ’em gunners !!!!!

    3. SCI members and reps. are the REAL ecoterrorists. They will stop at nothing to grab public lands, turn them into their own private killing fields, and willingly put the rest of the populace in danger to satisfy its bloodlust. Doom shall soon befall you, SCI.

    4. Out-of-state influence had a hand in this outcome, no doubt. SCI has no place on the American landscape. They should be labeled a terrorist organization and an enemy of the state for what they do.

    5. Shameful. Just shameful. The bloody-minded just can’t find ways to entertain themselves that doesn’t involve destroying other sentient beings in the Divine Creation, beings that actually have a purpose, something those supposedly intelligent human beings have shown they do not have. All of the negative karma they have sown will come home like a landslide.

    6. So the wealthy, amoral poachers got their way again. What a surprise, it’s the American way.

    7. Of course, you can get anything in this country if you have MONEY. These scumbags are as dirty as the sewer in New York City. Flipping MAGGOTS.
