The Illegal Mayors of Bloomberg’s MAIG

Incarcerating Michael Bloomberg may be the next news ironic item….If only!

San Diego, CA –-( New York Mayor Bloomberg, America’s self-appointed gun control financier and front man, established the group Mayors Against Illegal Guns (MAIG).

The group’s typically innocuous and benign sound bites actually conceal an aggressive and extreme agenda, some rather disastrous shenanigans (such as a Keystone Cop style “sting” operation on southern gun stores), and funding from the primarily gun control financier (the Joyce Foundation, where Barack Obama spent eight years on the board). MAIG is dedicated to nationally making firearm acquisition as difficult as it is in New York City.

But as it turns out, Bloomberg and the mayors who joined his cabal are often ducking the law thanks to their habit of breaking the law.

Parody is a sure sign that things are not going well. As more and more member mayors are arrested, convicted and incarcerated, a protest web site called Gun Owners Against Illegal Mayors was born ( listing many of the chief offenders within Bloomberg’s ranks. Criminalities committed by Bloomberg’s buddies are not trivial. There are no parking citations, bounced checks or sidewalk spitting charges. Indeed the latest Mayors Against Illegal Guns illegalities are the least of their offenses.

San Diego Mayor Bob Filner tops the list of most recent revelations concerning office escapade bordering between sexual harassment and sexual assault. One lawsuit alleges Filner instructed a former aide to “get naked” and to work without wearing her panties. This was in addition to Filner routinely grabbing her, dragging her about the office in a headlock and bluntly asking for sex. Another complainer asserts Filner gave her rump a patting in response to a standard line about “working her ass off” to which Filner announced “No, it’s still there.” Yet other complaints itemize instances of inappropriate comments, kissing and groping.

On the darker side, take the case of Larry Langford, the former Mayor of Birmingham, Alabama and an avid fan of Bloomberg’s coalition. Lamentable Larry was convicted of 60, yes 60, felony counts including bribery, fraud, money laundering and tax evasion.

  • Austin Mayor Will Wynn plead guilty to assault (a crime of violence) and his co-member Jeremiah Healy of Jersey City was convicted of resisting arrest.
  • Samuel Rivera upped the Mayor’s game by being indicted for extortion and taking a bribe, though this pales in comparison to his being convicted of covering up a homicide.
  • Gary Becker of Racine, Wisconsin pleaded guilty to sexual assault on a child and child enticement though his child pornography charges were dropped as a minor inconvenience.
  • Following suit, James Schiliro, the Mayor of Marcus Hook, Pennsylvania was arrested after using local police to fetch a male minor, serving booze to the fellow, asking for sexual favors and then firing off a gun when the lad refused.

There are others, but the list is longer than your patience.

You have to marvel at a band of elected officials who complain bitterly about illegal guns, yet do nothing about cleaning-up their inner-city gangs who commit most crimes. Apparently a lot of these mayors are too busy committing their own felonies.

Yet Filner may be the final nail in Bloomberg’s coalition coffin. Filner the Philanderer, being the latest in the elongating line of Illegal Mayors has cast a shadow on the group, more so even than Bloomberg’s own misdirection of purpose when he lied to other mayors about the coalition’s true goals. The stream of mayoral resignations now greatly exceeds the number of charges and convictions of Bloomberg’s brethren.

Over 50 mayors have left the organization in the last few months and many more have trickled away in the preceding years.

Nashua, New Hampshire Mayor Donnalee Lozeau summed up the sentiments of many former Bloomberg associates saying “Wait a minute, I don’t want to be part of something like that. I told them, ‘You’re Mayors Against Illegal Guns, you’re not mayors for gun control.’”

“The reason why I joined the group in the first place is because I took the name for what it said – against ‘illegal’ guns,” echoed Rockford, Illinois Mayor Lawrence Morrissey, who left the group in June. “The original focus, I thought, was going to be focusing on better on enforcement of our existing laws. As the original mission swayed, that’s when I decided that it was no longer in line with my beliefs.” He also opined “If anything, [locally] we have talked about not getting involved with things like banning assault weapons and banning magazine clips.”

The ongoing exodus is accelerated by intraparty fighting. Though currently an independent, Bloomberg was born a Democrat and remained one until switching to the GOP in order to ease his way into the Mayor’s office. His policies in and out of office remain squarely with Democrat philosophy. In the aftermath of failed gun control legislation, Bloomberg is campaigning against Democrats, which is raising causing members of that party to campaign against Bloomberg. “The mayor of New York City putting ads against [our] people in red states is not going to be effective,” said perpetual gun control enthusiast New York Senator Charles Schumer. Given Schumer’s power in the party, especially as the occasional chairman of the Democratic Senatorial Campaign Committee, this confrontation is causing more Democrats to bail on Illegal Mayors.

Others have fled Mayors Against Illegal Guns for fear of interfacing with felons who still occupy the ranks of Mayors Against Illegal Guns. Bloomberg may be one of them.

Seems that the web sites of Mayors Against Illegal Guns has, against the law, been hosted on New York City servers and managed by city of New York staff. In other words, taxpayers of New York are paying for billionaire Bloomberg’s shady operation, which actively campaigns for political issues and against political candidates (the web site,, is registered to the city of New York under the New York City Department of Information Technology and Telecommunications). Taxpayers may also have paid for a Bloomberg operative to lobby for gun control on the other side of the country, which involved misappropriation of funds and fraud since lobbying laws require full disclosure (the lobbyist scrubbed his digital trail to cover the source of his employment).

Though it goes against general American legal principals, many wonder if members of Bloomberg’s Mayors Against Illegal Guns should be considered guilty until proven innocent. Statistically speaking, this may be appropriate.
