Washington DC – -(Ammoland.com)-  During an October 30 213 Senate hearing on “Stand Your Ground” laws, Senator Dick Durbin (D-IL) said such “laws go too far in encouraging confrontations” and need to be revised.

Stand Your Ground” laws recognize the natural right of an armed citizen to defend his or her life in the face of danger. This reverses older laws that required a citizen to retreat or attempt to retreat while under attack.

In the 20 states that have instituted these laws, a citizen under attack can stand his ground and use deadly force to repel deadly force.

According to Politico, Durbin said “whatever the motivations were behind the passage of these laws” they need to be revisited because “they are resulting in unnecessary tragedies.”

Gun scholar John Lott and Senator Ted Cruz (R-TX) spoke in defense of the laws. Cruz said, “This is not about politicking, this is not about inflaming racial tensions, although some might try to use it [for that]. This is about the right of everyone to protect themselves, protect their family.”

Often those that have their own personal armed security teams want to chip away at the laws that have protected law abiding citizens for years.

Please, Mr. Durbin, may I protect myself without your permission? Please, please? HOW ABOUT LEADING BY EXAMPLE, YOU DOOFUS! Leave your protection at home, get rid of the Federal Protective service and you walk around like an ordinary citizen. Fat chance that will happen.

Stand your ground means not having to run away from some genetic throwback assaulting you. How can that be wrong? These Democrat Liberals are mentally ill to say the least.

Durbin’s show trial is playing a bit part in an upcoming year long White House generated political strategy to keep racial tensions high, the purpose of which is to get out the black vote in the 2014 midterms elections. Traditionally black voters have a low turn out for midterms. Over the next year look for the Democrats to cherry pick racial incidents to keep the black community inflammed.

We need to stand our ground against statist toadies like Duban who would deny us even the most fundamental right … The right to self-defense.
These people are the enemy. They must be defeated at all costs.
If they don’t want confrontations, they should stop causing them by infringing our rights.

If I wanted to hear from Dick Durbin, I’d move away from America and into Illinois. There is nothing in Illinois’ record of controlling violence which gives them any standing in suggesting what the rest of us should do about it. They themselves are obviously clueless.

seems like it’s mostly Democrats that want to Change our country! Guns were and are a big part of America! It is VERY IMPORTANT! that’s why this law they call the “2nd” AMMENDMENT! is number two! We need the 2nd amendment regardless of the insane criminals in public because the politicians want to let them all out!!! Dangerous or not! The very reason to have a gun!

I only have one question for “Dicky.” What tragedies? If you’re talking Trayvon, Stand Your Ground wasn’t used in the defense, so try again. I’m cool. I’ll wait…

Methinks Mr. Durban has it all wrong. Felonious acts committed by criminals are resulting in more “unnecessary tragedies” than “Stand Your Ground” laws. These Progressive/Liberal/Democrats always demonize the wrong person or entity. Still, I wonder why they call him Dick instead of Richard?
