East Liverpool, OH –-(Ammoland.com)- Prepper & Shooter Magazine has introduced a new system to evaluate the suitability of various firearms for survival situations, and will be debuting its first evaluation, that of the PTR-91 KPFR, at SHOT Show 2014, in the PTR Industries booth.

“The readers of Prepper & Shooter Magazine are looking for the best firearm products to provide for their security and basic needs in a catastrophic situation.”

“We wanted to be able to provide an objective method of comparing the multitude of products on the market, so we developed the ‘Primary Survival Gun Evaluation System’ to compare potentially selected firearms across all aspects of design and effectiveness,” says Vincent L. DeNiro, Editor-in-Chief.

The evaluation system assesses  17 common factors, such as adaptability, availability of accessories and parts, ability to engage multiple targets, accuracy, suitability for hunting, cost, weight and ergonomics to name a few, and ranks them on a scale of one to five stars.  An overall rating is also provided, based on the average of the scores in the evaluation categories.

“I selected the PTR-91 KPFR for Prepper & Shooter Magazine’s first Survival Gun Evaluation because I have more than 30 years of experience with HK-type firearms, and have seen the exceptional quality of PTR Industries products first-hand,” reports DeNiro.  “We chose to evaluate the PTR-91 KPFR due to its shorter overall length with telescopic stock and 16-inch heavy match barrel, which enables the firearm to be a great defensive rifle for close quarters and distances as well as to reach targets at several hundred yards.”

In addition to being revealed at the PTR Industries booth at SHOT Show, the PTR-91 KPFR Primary Survival Gun Evaluation will be featured in the Spring 2014 issue of Prepper & Shooter Magazine, which will be available in March.

Prepper & Shooter Magazine is a quarterly publication that covers all the topics vital to those interested in preparing for a variety of scenarios in which they would need to be self-reliant – such as natural or man-made disasters – in an assortment of product reviews, expert columnist pieces, interviews, instructional pieces and feature stories. The magazine, which is published by The Third Page Publishing Inc., is priced at $7.95 per issue and is available on newsstands and from the publisher.
