Colorado: Bill to Repeal Restrictions on Rifle & Shotgun Purchases Passes House & Heads to Governor

Charlotte, NC –-( Yesterday, Senate Bill 135 passed the Colorado House of Representatives by a 61-1 vote and now heads to Governor John Hickenlooper’s (D) desk for his consideration.

SB 135, sponsored by state Senator Greg Brophy (R-1), would repeal restrictions in state law relating to the purchase and sale of rifles and shotguns in non-contiguous states, and permit the purchase and sale of firearms in states not bordering Colorado by both residents and non-residents.

This long-overdue legislation will align Colorado with forty other states that already allow their residents to purchase rifles and shotguns in non-contiguous states, provided that the purchase or transfer complies with state and federal law.  It would also allow for the sale of rifles and shotguns to residents of non-contiguous states.  Currently, Colorado residents can only legally purchase long guns in bordering states.  SB 135 repeals this outdated restriction, allowing Colorado residents the freedom to purchase long guns in states beyond their immediate borders.

Please call and e-mail Governor Hickenlooper TODAY and politely ask that he sign SB 135 into law.  You can reach Governor Hickenlooper by phone at (303) 866-2471 and by e-mail here.

Oh sure, the same guy who signed the restrictions into law is NOW going to reverse himself–oh sure. Those that believe THAT is going to happen are smoking too much of the green stuff we have legalized here in Co.

This governor will never sign any gun bill that would be considered as pro-gun…It’s time to put this governor out to pasture…He has done enough damage here in Colorado with passing some of the most stupidiest and frivolous anti-gun laws ever to disgrace this once great state of Colorado…It is unbeknown why Democrats would want to re-elect this guy when he has proven himself to be a sportsmans worst nightmare come true!
