USA – -(Ammoland.com)- John Lotts Crime Prevention Research Center (CPRC) has begun a crowd funding initiative to combat the onslaught of bogus gun research that Bloomberg and others are pouring cash into and the mainstream media just love to repeat. Stand up for your rights, support with the CPRC your donations today. ( http://tiny.cc/lj1pex )
Gun control advocates have recently put hundreds of millions of dollars toward “public health” studies, with predetermined outcomes. These studies are beginning to find their way to the main stream media. Soon there will be an avalanche of studies, and their advice puts lives at risk.
John Lott is the founder of the Crime Prevention Research Center and is seeking to counter the bogus studies by providing rapid response to the new studies as well as conducting high-quality peer-reviewed academic studies.
Lott, the author of More Guns, Less Crime and The Bias Against Guns, has conducted decades of research showing that armed citizens have saved lived and deterred crime. Meeting the goal of $300,000 will allow the center to hire additional research associates, acquire data, and do research on a variety of topics that are central to the debate over gun ownership. “If we could meet $500,000, it would cover our costs for a year” says John.
Crime Prevention Research Center Mission The Crime Prevention Research Center (CPRC) is a research and education organization dedicated to conducting academic quality research on the relationship between laws regulating the ownership or use of guns, crime, and public safety; educating the public on the results of such research; and supporting other organizations, projects, and initiatives that are organized and operated for similar purposes.
As one participant said: “There’s only one reason why you get a bunch of deep-pocketed funders on the phone.”
In 2012, Mayor Michael Bloomberg donated $250 million to Johns Hopkins’ Bloomberg School of Public Health to hire new professors, many whose primary objective is to do expanding research on gun violence. President Obama has also been directing federal government funds towards gun control projects. Still other funds are being set up, such as the Fund for a Safer Future, which has $16 million to fund gun control research and is one of the many gun control projects being partially funded George Soros’ Open Society Foundation. Recently, the MacArthur foundation has also been given a large million dollar grant. The public health research being funded is very flawed (e.g., see the discussion here on Kellermann). Core Activities CPRC plans to:
- Conduct and publishing academic quality research on the relationship between laws regulating the ownership or use of guns, crime and public safety.
- Support affiliated academics in conducting and publishing similar research by means such as providing direct financial support, sharing data, and providing technical assistance.
- Educate the public, journalists, and policy makers on the results of research on these issues by means such as books, public lectures, newspaper columns, academic seminars, and information briefings.
- Make research and data available to researchers, the public, policy makers, and journalists by maintaining a comprehensive website.
- Engage in other related activities consistent with the mission and goals of CPRC.
