MADISON, WI –-(Ammoland.com)- On September 14 2014, Wildlife Services confirmed that wolves killed a 3 year old Walker bear hound.

The attack occurred in the Town of Washburn, Bayfield County. More information and a caution area map are available on the gray wolf webpage.

Hunters are reminded to use the caution area maps on the DNR website (dnr.wi.gov, keyword “wolf management”) to help reduce conflicts during this year's bear dog training and hunting season.

**Anyone suspecting a wolf attack in northern Wisconsin should call USDA-WS immediately at 1-800-228-1368 (in state) or 715-369-5221. In southern Wisconsin call 1-800-433-0663 (in state) or 920-324-4514.

Wolf hunters; the phony brave. A ten year old girl can shoot the gun. The epitome of fragile egotism.

No matter how you hunt, you are still hunting. If the anti hunters get their way we will argue amongst ourselves and let them somehow manage to outlaw it. Same thing with guns , if they can divide us into groups ( AR-15 lovers and haters) they can get them banned eventually. We must stand together or we will all fall

The way I see it, lazy people are the ones who hunt bear without hounds. Anyone who thinks hound hunting is simply taking dogs, treeing bear and shooting them, knows absolutely nothing about hunting with hounds. If thats as easy as it was, no one would sit on a bait and everone would use dogs. It takes years of training to get a dog to just tree a bear, let alone all the other aspects of making a good dog. Its so easy for people who have never done something to make judgements on another persons lifestyle.

Mark V, I agree 100%. It’s like these retarded hillbillies that use dogs for deer hunting here in Virginia. These hillbillies have lost the whole concept of hunting where you track, stalk, and in some instances decoy your prey. These idiots use dogs to do it corner it and kill and call it a good hunt. I feel sorry for the hound dogs, it’s not their fault they ended up with a retarded hillbilly only to live a fucked up life and get attacked and eaten by wolves. Yes I do hunt and yes I use retrievers when waterfowl hunting,… Read more »

Kill the wolves. They are destroying the elk, deer and cougar population in the northwest.

Its too bad this keeps happening. People are too lazy to hunt bears without dogs? I don’t think its sport at all to tree a bear using dogs and then shoot it. Not the wolves fault for acting on instinct. Would there be any outrage if a bear had done this? Also, why does the headline read “family pets”. I doubt this poor hunting hound had a life next to the fire inside a house and able to run free. Probably chained-up outside year round. Sad.
