USA – (Ammoland.Com) – On this week’s Federal Premium’s Fresh Tracks with Randy Newberg, Randy Newberg creates fresh tracks on a public land hunt near Gunnison, Colo. with good friend and hunting partner, Mark Hiroven.

One heads to the high ground where the elk are and the other goes for the low ground where mule deer are gathering for the rut.

But before they even reach the trailhead, Mark spots a monster muley staring them down a short distance away. But neither hunter is prepared! Tune in to see Randy gets his elk and if Mark finds that monster muley on this week’s Federal Premium’s Fresh Tracks with Randy Newberg on Sportsman Channel, Thursday, September 25 at 7:30 p.m. MT.

“What a fire drill to this hunt. You certainly didn’t expect to see a big buck standing by the road when how many vehicles have already gone through,” said Newberg. “And we don’t road hunt, so neither of us had our stuff ready; the guns were locked in the back, I didn’t even have my boots on. But the chase is on now.”

Once they reach the trailhead, it is a mad dash to get their gear on and race to the last spot they saw the buck move. But on their way they notice a bunch of other trucks and ATV tracks on the ground – this is public land hunting on opening day, afterall.

“We saw a lot of hunters, but we also saw a lot of animals. That’s public land hunting,” said Mark Hiroven. “I’m not a trophy hunter, my trophy is whatever I find that day.”

Federal Premium’s Fresh Tracks with Randy Newberg takes the same self-guided public land story viewers have come to love with his award-winning series, On Your Own Adventures, and tells that story in a deeper “behind the scenes” format.

This season also includes segments highlighting The Land and Water Conservation Fund (LWCF), which is the largest land access program in history. “LWCF provides millions of acres of public hunting access, yet it largely goes unnoticed by the hunting community,” commented Newberg. “If LWCF is not reauthorized by Congress in 2015, hunters will definitely notice that. My goal is to educate and inform so hunters can take actions locally and nationally.”
