Election Brings Historic Change to West Virginia’s Political Landscape

West Virginia –-(Ammoland.com)- A Historic Change: For the first time in 83 years, West Virginia has a Republican majority in the House of Delegates. And it is a strong majority with 67 Republican members.

The West Virginia Senate is now split evenly with 17 Republicans and 17 Democrats.

While we did lose some very pro-gun delegates, overall, this was a major pro-gun change across West Virginia’s entire political landscape. Tuesday was a good day for gun rights, as many pro-gun Republicans won seats, and many pro-gun Democrats retained theirs.

It is difficult to put into words the potential impact of this change. It has forced the entire West Virginia Citizens Defense League ( WVCDL ) to seriously re-evaluate our agenda, and the timetable for that agenda. The Board of Directors met last night as we watched the election results roll in, and by midnight, it was clear that strategy changes are required.

The exact nature of those changes is yet to be determined. The West Virginia Citizens Defense League Board of Directors is a methodical and logical group that does not succumb to knee-jerk reactions, good or bad. Our discussions continue. And as those discussions continue, as we always do, we are taking the pulse of the membership and listening to your views. Stay tuned for more information on strategy as the caucuses reorganize in both houses.

Real Money Fails.
Union attacks on Delegate Danny Hamrick’s (R – Harrison) and others’ staunch support of our Second Amendment rights have, fortunately, failed spectacularly.

West Virginian’s message to the Unions: OUR RIGHTS ARE NOT FOR SALE.

Thank You!

Given that Tuesday was such a good day for pro-gun candidates in West Virginia, all credit must go where it is due. You, the West Virginia gun owner, have made your voices heard at the polls. In our Republic, this is how we control the people who control our lives. It is your exercise of this power, along with your First Amendment rights that have generated this sea change in the political landscape. It is your conversations with your friends, family and neighbors who have brought them to the polls to defend their rights.

Thank you.
