Washington DC – -(Ammoland.com)-  On January 14 2015, Virginia Governor Terry McAuliffe (D) gave his State of the Commonwealth address, in which he called for a limit on the number of handguns Virginians can buy each month and a law to allow concealed carry permits to be revoked from those who fail to pay child support.

McAuliffe also pushed for new gun control measures tied to domestic violence, something that is already law at the federal level–therefore, a redundant expanse of bureaucracy in the state. But it is an expanse that allows states to move closer to the creation of gun-owner registries.

NBC 12 posted a transcript of McAuliffe’s speech. In it, he introduced his gun control proposals by first talking about his support of the Second Amendment. This is the same way that gun control proponents like Mark Kelly and Senator Joe Manchin (D-WV) introduced the gun control they have pushed over the years.

After paying lip service to gun rights, McAuliffe then explained his plans to curtail them. Those plans include “closing the imaginary gun show loophole.” They also include “revoking concealed carry permits from those who do not meet their legal obligation to pay child support; and curtailing gun trafficking by restoring the one handgun a month law.”

He framed all these proposals as part of his larger plan of “keeping Virginians safe from gun violence.

He did not provide examples of how any of these proposals would have stopped even one high-profile public firearm incident in recent memory.

This is Terry’s payback to nanny Bloomberg for his election support. The reality is that none of the actions he identified would make us in VA one wit safer: 1. Domestic violence is already on the books ala federal law 2. gun running, by definition, implies guns are leaving the state….. 3. child support has no more logical linkage to concealed carry than does, say, hair dresser’s professional license. There is no connection between the two subjects, why not make CCP renewal based on the phase of the moon…. Fact is, we are stuck with a card-carrying progressive libtard, thanks… Read more »

Even allowing that the other aspects of his proposal may be reasonable and constitutional (which I do not), there is no rationalizing a non-existent connection between “deadbeat dads” and violent crime, nor the unconstitutional suspension of substantive due process.

This is typical and persistent proof that to leftists, the Constitution is a list of suggestions instead of the Supreme Law of the land.

McAuliffe is a Gov. Cuomo wannabe. He has to make anti-constitution remarks to pay back his Bloomberg support money.Virginians wakeup to his game.

Out of all the ridiculous gun control laws I’ve heard. This is probably the dumbest one yet.Limiting the # of handguns someone can buy in a month and ban it from those who dont pay child support. No wonder the gun control lobby is losing, its idiots like these who run it and create laws that dont make any damn sense or even relate to guns.Really, child support, gun control advocates are starting to go really down low in the laws they propose.

Should read Terry McAuliffe TRAITOR of the the U.S. Constitution , wants to spit on the 2nd Amendment more. I have the right to Bear Arms , the right to possess property , the right of self defense . I do not need government telling me how many firearms I can buy , own or otherwise have. Maybe We should investigate Terry McAuliffe for his role in raising capital for EB5 visas , the companies he was involved in are GreenTech Automotive and Gulf Coast Funds Management of McLean . Lets hear about his dirty SEC violations . Looks criminal… Read more »
