Berryville, AR -(Ammoland.com)- Mason Lane of the Sig Sauer Academy shooting team not only claimed the High Junior title at the 2015 Smith & Wesson IDPA Indoor Nationals but also took home the award for Most Accurate.
Lane finished the match in eighth place overall among the 320-plus competitors and took third in the highly competitive Stock Service Pistol division where he posted a final time of 228.26 second while shooting an amazing 31 points down.
“Mason shot an outstanding match and, despite being just 17, is proving to be a serious challenger to IDPA’s best shooters. The Smith & Wesson IDPA Indoor Nationals is always a difficult, technical match to shoot, yet Mason made it look easy,” said Joyce Wilson, executive director of IDPA.
Second place in the competition for High Junior went to 16-year-old Ashley Rheuark who finished 10th overall in the match with her final time of 232.01 seconds (52) in the Enhanced Service Pistol division. Though she competed for the Junior title, hers was the best time posted by any woman in the match.
Rounding out the top five were ESP shooters Padraic Sullivan with 258.94 (82), Eric West with 265.64 (126) and Justin Winstead with 294.20 (78).
Smith & Wesson has hosted the IDPA Indoor National Championship on the indoor ranges of their Shooting Sports Center for 18 years. One of the most popular matches on the IDPA competition calendar, the Indoor Nationals serves as the official start of the IDPA season.
