Doylestown, Pa. (Ammoland.com) – The National Tactical Officers Association (NTOA) is pleased to announce Officer Cynthia Williams as the new Defensive Tactics Section Chair. NTOA Chairpersons are individuals who have demonstrated leadership and involvement in the law enforcement field in general as well as their subject matter specialty. This person will interact with and provide guidance to the NTOA member community and the Board of Directors for matters concerning his or her expertise. Facilitating relationships between the NTOA and other government, public and private entities is another important aspect of this duty.

Officer Williams has been a law enforcement officer since 2000 and is currently with the Key West Police Department in Florida, having retired in 2014 as a sergeant with the Palm Bay Police Department. She is a highly decorated officer and has been the recipient of many recognitions and commendation awards for her performance. She began her SWAT career in 2003 at the Key West Police Department, where she once again serves on the Key West SWAT team.

Williams is a certified defensive tactics instructor, and in addition instructs in firearms, patrol rifle, less-lethal and Simunition safety. She has also taught specialty ground defense courses for several training organizations and is also a police academy instructor.

Having trained extensively in Tae Kwon Do in her youth, Williams currently trains in Brazilian Jujitsu and is a member of Brazilian Top Team, having competed in the North American Grappling Association, as well as the Florida Law Games. There she earned first place honors in both gi and no-gi submission grappling.

Williams holds a certification in sports nutrition and physical fitness. As a health and fitness advocate, she has implemented several volunteer health programs for law enforcement officers in Florida and other states. She is also an amateur body builder, and has competed in three National Physique Committee competitions where she won first place in her categories. She attended St. Thomas University in Miami, Florida on an athletic scholarship for soccer. As a student athlete she obtained a BA in Criminal Justice in three years. Williams is currently pursuing her master’s degree from American Military University in Homeland Security.
