GRANBURY, TX –-(Ammoland.com)- Bond Arms continues to expand its California-approved handgun line with the addition of four new models. Bond Arms launched in the state in late 2014 with the Big Bear CA and the Brown Bear CA.

The company is now shipping the new CA Mama Bear, California Defender, CA Backup, and CA Papa Bear.

“We had an overwhelmingly positive response when we launched our first two California-approved handguns. With our newest additions, consumers in the state will have even more styles to choose from,” said Bond Arms president Gordon Bond.

“For those who aren’t familiar with our guns, I encourage them to go to a nearby dealer and hold one. Bond Arms makes the smallest, most powerful, best-built, personal protection on the market. It’s why we can confidently say they are ‘The Finest in Double Barrel Protection.’”

Additional specs on the new guns are as follows:

  • CA Papa Bear: .45 Colt; Extended rubber grips with the California Bear; MSRP: $452
  • CA Mama Bear: 9mm; Pink-stained rosewood grips with CA Mama Bear logo; MSRP: $445
  • California Defender: 9mm; Panel rosewood grips with the California Bear; MSRP: $445
  • CA Backup: 9mm; Rubber grips; MSRP: $445

All four firearms feature a rebounding hammer, retracting firing pins, crossbolt safety, and spring-loaded cammed locking lever for a tighter barrel/frame fit and rapid loading and unloading. The CA Papa Bear also has an automatic extractor. At this time, the new models come with specially-designed, California-approved barrels instead of the company’s signature interchangeable barrels.

About Bond Firearms:
Originally organized under the name Texas Armory, the company became incorporated as Bond Arms in 1995 with the idea that the Remington Model 95 over-under, single-action derringer could be converted from an Old West anachronism into a modern defensive handgun. The barrel and frame were redesigned to safely fire modern calibers. The beefed-up double barrels and frames are constructed completely from stainless steel, and shaped with modern manufacturing processes. This makes for a pistol that’s both strong and durable. www.bondarms.com

$#@× California – If I want to be in a perpetual state of idiocy I will move there. LOL

I have a CA Papa Bear in 45 Colt. I love the gun. I do not live in CA but wanted the CA version in 45 Colt only for two reasons: 1. I would never use the 410 shot shell anyway. 2. The 45 Colt only barrels have more rifling in them. I dearly love this derringer! I feel safe carrying it because a 45 Colt heavy standard pressure load will stop anyone. Mine came with the extended rubber grips but I replaced those with a set of Rosewood silver star grips … looks better, feels better, slides in my… Read more »

I love my Bond Arms Snake Slayer and I carry it everywhere I go, even to church on Sunday (which I do every GD day). Mine is 45 Colt and 410 00 Buck (25 Cal. shot). Satan is a snake, but I will fight along side the Archangel Michael Prince of the Heavenly Host, who by the power of God will thrust in to fiery perdition.

Designing a California compliant gun is easy. Put a fixed 2 shot barrel on a ‘owls head’ grip frame and make sure the empty weight and size of the gun is more than a loaded 5 shot .38 Special ‘snubby’ and chamber it in .45 Long Colt. LOL

$450 plus tax and permits take over $500 . U can buy a better gun 4 that the novelty of 45/410 made it a fun gun but not allowed in Ca.
