Washington DC – -(Ammoland.com)- The Department of Justice is “monitoringGun Cave Indoor Firing Range owner Jan Morgan in Hot Springs, Arkansas, for banning Muslims from shooting in the facility.

At that time, Fox News reported that Morgan decided to ban Muslims after “two customers she deemed suspicious” showed up in September. Since that time, she has excluded those “she believes to be Muslim based upon their names.

She said, “We are dealing in lethal firearms. I am not going to let a Nazi shoot in here, or a Ku Klux Klan member in here, either.”

AmmoLand News reported that the Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR) wrote a letter to Attorney General Eric Holder asking him to intervene. In the letter, CAIR said;

“Given the recent spike in anti-Muslim rhetoric, including Islamophobic statements by government officials, community leaders and media outlets, death threats, and other bias incidents targeting Muslims, I urge you to investigate this matter soon.”

The ACLU also asked the DOJ to intervene.

And now, the DOJ says it is “monitoring the situation.

According to The Washington Post, the DOJ has not provided details indicating any investigation has been opened, but CAIR is pleased that the DOJ has become involved, and they hope it will lead to an investigation in the future.

CAIR’s Jennifer Wicks said, “We welcome this positive development and hope it leads to a thorough investigation of clear violations of the civil rights of American Muslims and those perceived to be Muslim by the gun range owner.”

In January, “A South Asian father and son accused Morgan’s business of turning them away.” They claimed Morgan assumed they were Muslim because their skin was brown. The identities of the two are not known because they demanded anonymity “out of safety concerns.”

Morgan rejected their claims, stating it was their behavior, not their skin color, that led her to think they “might not be safe handling firearms in [her] range.” Morgan made clear that her range does not discriminate based on skin color, and explained her belief that the South Asian father and son applied to shoot with an “agenda.” She said their actions were “clearly designed to create the situation that occurred.”

The CAIR twit Wicks complains about violating the civil rights of American muslims. The term American muslims is an oxymoron as any practicing muslim can NOT be an American. The two terms are mutually exclusive.
Kudos to Jan Morgan!

Excellent for Ms. Morgan and up keeping the AMERICAN….I said the AMERICAN traditions of our rights as an AMERICAN to make these decisions especially being an OWNER who OWNS and PAYS THE BILLS and keeps a SAFE RUNNING ENVIRONMENT with her very difficult decisions to allow responsible individuals on HER property. HER (Jan’s) RESPONSIBILITIES, not the ABC or DOJ’s….. And where would the DOJ, ABC, etc. be if God forbid something unethical occurred at the range based on race and back grounds…..they’d turn their heads away and blame the OWNER! Jan I’d LOVE to visit your range and plink off… Read more »

Maybe the DOJ and other ‘alphabet’ agencies…should be monitoring the “radical element” of muslims in our Country…instead. Maybe ‘I’ was slightly misleading…there are no “radical” muslims…they all believe in islam and it’s ‘prophet’, “Big Mo” and the qur’an…so the word “radical” doesn’t apply…they are just “devout”…in their beliefs on killing those that have a different faith and will not convert and bow down to islam.

Last I checked, “we have the right to refuse service” still stands.

WTF? No it does not. You can and will lose your business for not serving gays, blacks, arabs and any other minority.
The only people you can legally discriminate against are white guys

Actually you’re not entirely correct. In most states being homosexual is not a protected class and you may be refused service. It is not a protected Federal Class either.

We used to have the right to refuse all service, but that was before freaking queers wanted a cake, and freaking queers want to be married in a church……a church, you believe that….an aboration and apostacy at the altar of God!

Good for her. Its a private business and she can allow or disallow anyone she wants. The so-called DOJ ought to also “closely monitor” the Muslims slaughtering the thousands of Christians in the Middle East. Da*n the Muslim dogs.
