Washington DC – -(Ammoland.com)- Recently, Oregon lawmakers discussed a gun control proposal that outlaws all private gun sales except those between “close relatives,” and that makes sales between “close relatives” a privilege that exists only as long as the government allows it to continue.

The gun control bill is sponsored by state senator Floyd Prozanski (Democrat-Eugene).

According to the Statesman Journal, it requires a private buyer and seller to find a licensed gun dealer, pay a fee, and “run a background check through the Oregon State Police.”

The bill would make the first violation of selling a gun without a background check a misdemeanor, “punishable by up to a year in jail and a $6,250 fine.” The second violation would be a felony, carrying a possible 10 year prison sentence and “$250,000 fine.”

Think about it: A $250,000 fine for selling a gun the same way other Americans have been selling them since the Second Amendment was ratified in 1791.

Prozanski said he’s chief “goal is to keep individuals who shouldn’t have access to guns from having easy access to guns.”

Ironically, many of the most infamous criminals in recent memory passed background checks to obtain the firearms they used in their attacks. These include Jerad and Amanda Miller (Las Vegas), Aaron Ybarra (Seattle Pacific University), Elliot Rodger (Santa Barbara), Ivan Lopez (Fort Hood 2014), Darion Marcus Aguilar (Maryland mall), Karl Halverson Pierson (Arapahoe High School), Paul Ciancia (LAX), Aaron Alexis (DC Navy Yard), James Holmes (Aurora theater), Jared Loughner (Tucson), Nadal Hasan (Fort Hood 2009), and Naveed Haq (Seattle).

So, background checks will not keep guns out of the hands of some of the most dangerous persons — at least. they have failed to do so in the past — but in Oregon, they will crush you with a $250,000 fine for selling a gun to your co-worker.

Q) What message do you have for ultra-Liberal organizations and individuals who want America disarmed? A.) Their ignorance is pitiful — their lives have been too easy. Had they experienced Dachau, they would have a better idea of how precious freedom is. These leftist should leave America. These Sarah Brady types must be educated to under-stand that because we have an armed citizenry, that a dictatorship has not yet happened in America. These anti-gun fools are more dangerous to Liberty than street criminals or foreign spies. Q.) Some concentration camp survivors are opposed to gun ownership. What message would you… Read more »

“The claim and exercise of a Constitutional right cannot be converted into a crime”…”No state shall convert a liberty into a privilege, license it, and attach a fee to it”.Miller v. U.S., U.S. Supreme Court. 319 U.S. 105 (1943).

One of the reasons we left Washington State 8 years ago was to get to a free state like Idaho. Washington, Oregon and California are becoming like one bad region to live. A great book discussing the Free State Project makes a wonderful case for moving to Wyoming. The goals of freedom for all over the oppressive thumb of Albany, Olympia and Sacramento is a must read.
Too many place have become Californicated. We need free states.

I grew up in Washington and Oregon. This sort of idiocy, endemic to both states, is the principal reason I have lived in Texas for the last 35 years. Ron

In Washington State one gun law was made null and void by gun owner showing up in mass. The same can happen in Oregon. Show up on the Capital steps and st handing guns back and forth it will make the law null amnd void if enough show up.

Maybe it is Floyd “Prozac” Prozanski that should be fined and incarcerated for being an oathbreaker and traitor to the US Constitution, along with the rest of his cohorts in various states and the general government. That would include LEO’s following unconstitutional orders. The time is drawing near that will “try man’s soul” to the very core.

He’s just borrowing from the NAZI gun laws. So, in terms of the 2nd Amendment ( and thereby of the Constitution), the guy is a NAZI.

These laws must be fought and fought in every state. Bloomberg and his rabid pack of gun grabbers are not letting up. If they can’t get in the front door to steal our God given rights, they’ll try the back door. If they can’t get in that way, they will break windows and come in through there. We must not sit back and watch. We must rally our forces and make sure these proposals face stiff and determined opposition.

Proposing such legislation is a prima facie gorss violation of his oath of office to “uphold, protect, defend” the Constitution. Therefore, dedicated patriots in this USURPER’S AO should drag him to the nearest tree/pole and hang his traitorous arse..

The sad thing is that this law will only grow the bureaucracy while doing nothing to make us any safer. We would do better with a comprehensive review of laws that fail to attain their purpose.

HEY RUSSELL …. I see KANSAS seems to like responsible gun owners and maybe a lot of those income tax dollars would go to support a Government that respects ones rights as written in 1791 … BRAVO to KANSAS for for making guns a RIGHT not a Privilege as it should be in AMERICA.

YEH….. Guess what FLOYD .. if you find a way to push something beyond stupid into a law in this state I’ll pack up and take my TAX DOLLARS ( yeh we get income taxed to death ) and MOVE so fast ! … I can think of many other states that could use my TAX DOLLARS for much better things than trying to fast track a BLOOMBERG backed bill into some sort of law… Nothing in this lifetime would stop me from telling you and the rest of your boys to shove it ! ….. EVER !
