“Regardless of where you are hunting, when your day starts with deer coming from every direction, you know things are going to be go well,” said Bachman. “I had bucks coming in from one way, does with their mouths open from another – it was amazing to see.”

Bachman’s decoys were put to the test as buck after buck came in to put on a show just beneath her feet. “Bucks in the rut don’t want to lay down or be still, they want to either get in a fight or find a doe, and I’m going to use that to my advantage,” said Bachman.

After several bucks came in to Bachman’s area responding to her grunt calls, they ended up either not being shooters or just out of bow range. Bachman extended her trip to the next morning to see if she could perfect her decoy domination and finally bring in a bruiser.
