Washington, D.C. – -(Ammoland.com)- Today HumaneWatch.org, a project of the nonprofit Center for Consumer Freedom, announced a new ad running on national cable targeting the deceptively named Humane Society of the United States (HSUS).

The ad, titled “Would You?,” features several people asking if viewers would give to HSUS knowing certain facts about the organization, such as that it recently paid a multimillion-dollar racketeering settlement.

The ad is also running more intensely in the D.C. metro area.

The ad can be viewed HERE.

“It’s hard to believe anyone would support HSUS if they knew the truth about the deception,” said Will Coggin, director of research at the Center. “HSUS relies on manipulative and deceptive ads to keep Americans in the dark and fund a radical, PETA-like agenda that has nothing to do with rescuing and sheltering animals.”

Some facts about HSUS include:

  • The organization paid almost $6 million last year to settle racketeering, fraud, and bribery litigation against it;
  • The Oklahoma attorney general is currently investigating HSUS;
  • Charity Navigator has issued a “Donor Advisory” against HSUS;
  • HSUS has repeatedly earned “D” grades from CharityWatch;
  • HSUS does not run a single pet shelter, despite its name and its ads full of dogs and cats.

“People who care about saving cats and dogs should give to their local shelter directly,” continued Coggin.

“HSUS doesn’t deserve donations; it deserves more investigations of its deceptive fundraising appeals.”

    1. The HSUS has put down more animals than anyone and if they even backing petals in least little bit well they will NEVER get as much as a penny from me, HSUS has been pushing an anti gun anti hunting and an anti human program for the last 10 years or more. The ad that they have on trying to get people to give money for the animal shelters, well lets just say that the ads is not worth it, they do not support them the way it is claimed. What all you need to do is look at some of the bills that they have pushed for and backed in the past and there are a lot of them, in the last state election in CACALF.there was a bill that would made hunting 100% illegal, good thing that bill went down in flames it got only a few votes, but the hsus has pushed for bills like that one and many others. The fact is the hsus is and has always has been anti human and anti gun ans everything else, the only thing they are for is getting rid of as many people as they can.

    2. @Julie; You may not like HumaneWatch’s motivation but you can NOT argue their facts. HUSU is an anti human, pro vegan, anti-hunting organization that has been deceiving well meaning animal lovers since day one. They do nothing to help to the shelter pets they claim to love. It is all a big money making racket.

    3. HSUS never claimed to operate shelters & does not solicit donations for that purpose. ‘Humanewatch.org” is a sham ‘charity’ operated by Washington lobbyist Richard Berman for the purpose of trying to negatively impact donations & public perceptions of various legitimate charities. He is paid by tobacco companies & agribusinesses. Details can be found on Wikipedia & this website: https://nodogaboutit.wordpress.com/2011/04/18/is-the-humane-society-of-the-united-states-evil-or-does-humanewatch-org-just-want-you-to-think-they-are-part-two/
      Do not believe these ads & this smear campaign. HSUS does incredibly important work in animal rescue & advocacy. Julie Anderson : 97.88.182.103
