Titusville, FL – “We need personal firearms because police are becoming wary of confrontation with violent criminals,” Snyder added.

“Citizens themselves have to be able to get and use handguns to stop these criminals,” he said. “People have to be able to protect themselves and their families from violent criminal attack. This is true generally for people, including people living in poor neighborhoods.”

Snyder said a Wall Street Journal article indicated the demonization of police activity against violent criminals has created a situation in which police hesitate to pursue and arrest violent criminals.

In the article on The New National Crime Wave, Heather MacDonald wrote that, “The most plausible explanation of the current surge in lawlessness is the intense agitation against American police departments over the past nine months.”

She noted, “President Obama and Attorney General Eric Holder, before he stepped down last month, embraced the conceit that law enforcement in black communities is infected by bias. The news media pump out a seemingly constant stream of stories about alleged police mistreatment of blacks, with the reports often buttressed by cell phone videos that rarely capture the behavior that caused an officer to use force…

“This incessant drumbeat against the police has resulted in what St. Louis police chief Sam Dotson last November called the ‘Ferguson effect.’ Cops are disengaging from discretionary enforcement activity and the ‘criminal element is feeling empowered,’ Mr. Dotson reported.”

Ms. MacDonald wrote in her May 29 2015 piece that the “‘Ferguson effects’ are happening across the country as officers scale back on proactive policing under the onslaught of anti-cop rhetoric…’Any cop who uses his gun now has to worry about being indicted and losing his job and family,’ a New York City officer tells me.”

Snyder said, “The article shows clearly that police now are wary of confrontation with violent criminals. This wariness comes about because politicians and loud-mouthed social activists have been demonizing cops for their tough arrests of violent criminals

“Who can blame law enforcement? They’ve had it with our incompetent President and other authorities. People must protect themselves and society with handguns.”

No. COPS have been demonizing cops.
Nobody has been demonizing good cops.

Janek

Without effective policing Americans are increasingly feeling like ‘it’s every man for himself’. With rioting and mob rule in places like Ferguson Missouri and Baltimore Maryland spreading can you blame people for wanting to ‘arm up’?

mikrat

“effective policing” – LOL WTF is that? Today you are something like 20 times more likely to be killed by a Cop than any boogie-man terrorist.

Get rid of the cops – I’ll be happy to take my chances. They are only Corporate Policy EnFORCErs and do not work for or serve you and I.

Jf

You are more likely to be killed by Obama voters and/or the drug users listed in your address book than by cops.

I dont care if you’re a Marxist or a losertarian, peddle your BS somewhere else.

Look its Sean Hannity Jr. The truth hurts a bit – get used to it.

This is what the powers to be, If they can stir up a enough civil unrest they can declare Martial Law and we will not have a 2016 election.

Greg

Earl, I agree with what you said. If a large crowd of Constitution loving Americans came together, I believe obummer would declare martial law. I don’t believe for a second he would do the same to a black crowd. Just think, five to six million gun loving folks could calmly shut down a major city. Obummer would have a cow. LOL!

Police = Police State Its not a Cops job to Protect you or I. Their job is to protect and Serve the Corporation (CITY, UNIVERSITY, Etc.) they work for, and to EnFORCE the Corporations Rules (Statutes) against we the people. To say that they are now too fearful to save your ass is a joke – It’s not their job. It’s your job and always has been, but the GOV and TV has brainwashed the country into thinking you have to wait for the POPO to come to your rescue – call 911 and die. When seconds count, cops are… Read more »

This was made law by the SCOTUS a few years ago, It stated that citizens have NO assured right to police protection. It is NOT the polices paid duty to protect every single citizen in every single situation. It stated clearly that the police were responsible to deal with the overall peace and solidarity to the public but not to the individual
If you want your person life protected you need to hire a personal guard or do it yourself but you can not assume that the police are going to serve as your private security agent
