DeKalb, Illinois – This week, Episode 129 of the AR-15 Podcast features Steve Fisher of Sentinel Concepts joining Reed Snyder, Anthony Hardy, and J.W. Ramp to cover carbine training. It’s one thing to have a nice rifle, but the question is–can you use it?
Steve starts out with a little on his background and how he got into the industry before diving into the meat of the show. One of the first big topics is of course the question, why train and where to start. Steve covers some basics like what to expect and how costs associated with legitimate training. He also goes over some of the different levels of training and what to expect from each level of it.
Perhaps the most crucial step in training is finding a trainer and course that suits you. Steve shares some search criteria depending on what each individual wants from training, but two cornerstones are reputation and safety. Anyone seeking training should seek out legitimate teachers, and it goes without saying that the trainer should have an impeccable safety record. Once you select a trainer, Steve takes us through the preparation for class, some best practices during class, and after action tasks to make the most of your experience.
