Washington DC – -(Ammoland.com)- On Thursday, Sen. Chris Murphy (D-CT) said he is not confident that Walmart clerks can sell gun “responsibly.”

CNN quoted Murphy as part of a larger push to get Walmart to consider banning guns in the wake of their announcement that they have banned the sale of Confederate flags.

Murphy criticized the fact that Walmart has guns displayed their stores, saying, “I would hope that stores like Walmart would recognize the danger of having these guns displayed… an aisle away from microwave popcorn and and Xbox games.”

“I’m not terribly confident that a 21-year-old Walmart clerk is going to sell guns responsibly or be able to give customers the kind of advice they need on how to responsibly use that gun,” he said.

Murphy’s lack of confidence in Walmart employees regarding gun sales opens the door for talks of more regulation, which dovetails perfectly with his belief that the Second Amendment is not “absolute.”

On April 6, 2013, the height of the Democrats’ post-Sandy Hook gun control push, Breitbart News reported that Murphy said: “The Second Amendment is not an absolute right, not a God-given right. It has always had conditions upon it like the First Amendment has.”

My wife and I ESCAPED the unconstitution state of Ct. Last election day we looked at each other and said You can’t fix stupid! In Ct. you must have a long gun permit to purchase or a pistol permit. No handguns are in Walmart anyway. To purchase a box of shotgun shells or even .22’s you need an amunition permit. All while the politicians (Demoncraps) have banned the death penalty and even the Chesire Petit murderers will live large on the taxpayers dime. Large and small businesses are fleeing the tax happy state and the population shrinks by 30,000 per… Read more »

Time to vote these clowns out of office or use recall procedure if legal in your state.

Since when is it the responsibility of the salesman to properly educate and advice a customer (unless asked) on ANYTHING sold in America. Are the same salesman capable of educating on the sale of hammers chainsaws and knives? All are potentially lethal. ALL the Wal-Mart must do is to insure that whoever is responsible to use the software is capable of doing it properly the oneness is then up to the FBI’s NICS system and the BATFE to take it from there If I can buy a chainsaw then I can buy a rifle. The 2nd is a right and… Read more »

Well Mr. Murphy, I’m sure that I have no confidence that you can represent the people of CT. You can separate your mouth from obummers butt… Read more »

Recently bought a Colt M-4 carbine at a $400 DISCOUNT at Wal-Mart. Glitch with the insta-check system but Wal-Mart employees pursued it until it was solved. I LOVE rural Missouri.

Ever notice the eyes of these lunatic gun grabbers. They all have that glazed over look of depravity in their eyes . [Windows to the soul.] Reminds me of the look in Charlie Manson’s eyes. All of them need to be invited to a neck tie party.

The guns are NOT an aisle away from the microwave popcorn – the grocery section is at the opposite end of the store.

Can you expect any thing different out of the mouth of Murphy? Every congressperson and senator from Unconstitutional, collectivist Ct .Are globalist Marxists schills. Who would disarm America. Their should be common sense laws to ban these collectivist, progressive, marxists from America. They have no place being in our society.

I bought 2 Mossberg 500’s at Wal Mart over the years. Had now trouble with the clerk doing his job. Selection was limited but hey you can always go to a full time Guns Store if you need to find something special. A friend of mine even ordered and received his M-4 from Wal Mart. Plus most everyone who is buying a firearm is not “green” to the subject. Most people who are buying for the first time know enough to seek out friends and family for advice. People also know how to d their own research on the internet.… Read more »

No big box stores in Nj sell firearms due to the extreemely rediculous laws.

Yes NJ has very restrictive gun laws. The Walmart’s in Princeton and Robbinsville do not sell guns and have now reduced their inventory of other potential “weapon” (bows, knives). To my surprise, the Dick’s in Princeton (bastion of liberalism) sells firearms. I have even gotten a few inexpensive rifles/shotguns there during clearance sell off’s. Been waiting for the pressure to get to them.

While some of the clerks that work at the sporting goods department at my local Wal-Mart aren’t the smartest they still do a good job keeping the guns lock on the display case and the trigger locks on place…

The trouble is these statists like Murphy are starting to believe their own paid for polls that Americans are not happy with the 2nd Amendment. They live in fear of what they don’t know and think if they disarm America they will be historical heroes. The only problem they continually refuse to accept is that if they outlaw guns, only outlaws will have guns. In reality, they only thing they are guaranteeing is that personal armament supplies are growing across the nation. If the 2nd amendment falls, so will the rest of the constitution. A question for all these Sandyhookers… Read more »

If this clown manages to pass another law infringing on the 2nd Amendment can we call it ‘Murphy’s Law’?

I recently bought a shotgun from Walmart for my son to use in his high school trap league. The process went quite smoothly because only personnel trained in the process can sell firearms. They also require a properly trained supervisor to be present and to doublecheck the paperwork and ID. The computerized version of the 4473 was quite easy to use, though if you make an error filling it out, the sale is canceled and you have to come back another day. The prices are very nice too. My only complaint is the lack of firearms in stock to browse… Read more »

What is the reasoning to have to come back another day if you make a mistake on the 4473 ?

Liberal academia. This particular leftist seems duller than most. Our rights are, in fact, God given and absolute up until they are used to cause harm to others, thereby infringing on their rights. The left loves to talk about not being able to “yell fire in a crowded theater”. Of course, this is because the ensuing panic would almost certainly cause bodily harm to others. I know of not one American who would argue that the Second Amendment gives them the right to infringe on the freedoms of others, which peaceful posession of firearms does not do. The most fundamental… Read more »

Ignorant politician shooting off his mouth , If a FFL does not comply with Federal laws they are shutdown. I know that Murphy can’t handle the power of being in office as all he wants to do is tax , disarm , tax, create an even more oppressive CT.
