Pennsylvania -(Ammoland.com)- The 2015-2020 Pennsylvania Game Commission Strategic Plan is available for public review.
The Strategic Plan outlines a five-year roadmap of the agency’s goals and strategies for management of the 480 species of wild birds and mammals in the state. This plan has not yet received final approval.The draft strategic plan can be found on the Game Commission’s website, www.pgc.state.pa.us. Those wishing to read the plan can click the Strategic Plan icon on the home page to view it.
The Pennsylvania Game Commission’s mission is to manage Pennsylvania’s wild birds and their habitats for current and future generations, said R. Matthew Hough, the agency’s executive director.
“Although our focus has remained basically the same since the agency was created, the challenges and opportunities facing the agency are fluid and dynamic,” Hough said.
The Strategic Plan identifies specific measureable goals to help guide the agency toward its core goals. The core goals for the 2015-2020 Strategic Plan include putting wildlife first, improving wildlife habitat, following sound business practices, serving Pennsylvanians and improving support for hunting and trapping.
“This plan focuses on identifying challenges that must be addressed to move the agency toward continued improvement and effectiveness,” Hough said. “Making this plan available to the public increases agency transparency and accountability.”
Those wishing to submit comments on the plan can do so in two ways. The public comment period ends June 17.
