Ft Collins, CO –-( On the European situation, from a friend and student who lives there and works in their System:

“Greeks have now spoken. Sixty-one percent of Greek voters said ‘no’ to the last proposal of anxious creditors: IMF, European Commission, and ECB (European Central Bank)

The Greek Central Bank, which has been literally kept alive by constant injections of money by increasingly uncomfortable creditors, is already begging the ECB to raise the cash-ceiling for its ‘allowance.’

Angela Merkel (Germany) will meet with François Hollande (France), and the ECB, to decide if they will keep defaulting Greece on a money-drip.

Socialist Greek Prime Minister Tsipras is now performing a cynical Pontius Pilate imitation, literally washing his hands. When things go south, he will blame the Greek electorate for the choices they made, which presumptively includes electing him!

The big question is: will Greece exit (voluntarily or involuntarily) the Euro Area?

Greece stubbornly refuses to even begin to pay its bills. Other European countries (ie: us other European citizens) will have to pick-up their tab, or Greece is unceremoniously jettisoned from our System and becomes a wretched, poverty-stricken orphan!

In ancient Greece, when Athens was threatened, they would put in place a ‘ temporary dictatorship,’ in order to protect the city. Today, Greece again needs strong and unpopular leadership in order to protect the nation from its own people, and preserve it for future generations.

Instead, they vote for Santa Claus!

And, let us not forget that Italy, Spain, Portugal, France are not far behind Greece!”

Comment: Great civilizations are rarely “conquered.” They invariably commit suicide!

“Ever guard yourself from any notion of ‘entitlement.’ It is lethal, to both individuals and nations!” ~ Charles Swindoll

    1. As Merkel, of Germany, said a couple of years ago when this whole Greece, etc. started. “The problem with socialism is that you eventually run out of other people’s money.” Let Greece fall and rot on the vine. What of any great value do they offer the rest of the world? IMHO…not one damn thing.

      1. The quote actually comes from the late Margaret Thatcher, probably the best Post War leader in Western Europe.
Greece needs a lesson in repaying debts, rather than squandering the money on ridiculous pensions whilst failing co collect taxes or address corruption.
Then the whole EU edifice needs torn down & returned to the Common Market the lying politicians sold it as being.

    2. The positive aspect of Greece’s financial crisis is that it marks the failure of the idea of uniting sovereign countries through one currency, one economy, or one world governance. People everywhere are tired of being forced to ‘carry the water’ for what’s going on outside their borders.

    3. Mob rule economics at its worst. Combined with government spending giving away everything.
Like giving retirements based on the last 5 years pay including overtime. Sorry rest of the world doesn’t work like that look at California’s problem with this. The stupid voters want everything for free and expect the debt to be written off. Like student loans in the U.S. . I think if student loans aren’t paid back your pay should be docked. Dead beats are whats killing society.
Greece should be left to fall , no one should invest a dime in them ever again until they pay their debts.
Many states are failing this way along with Puerto Rico another deadbeat wanting a bailout .
Government cannot sustain giving retirement to people with 20 years service at 38 years old then pay 50-60 years of retirement. This creates unfunded pensions.
