DeKalb, Illinois –-( The  AR-15 Podcast is happy to be back after a very brief hiatus last week.

This week, the show examines the .450 Bushmaster round for the AR platform.

Obviously, most people are familiar with the standard chambering of the AR, but one of the characteristics responsible for the platform’s enduring popularity is the mutability of the rifle, and its wide berth of chambering options.

First and foremost, what’s the difference between the standard .223/5.56 round and the .450, and what could you use it for? For starters, the round is significantly larger in diameter than the .223/5.56 and packs a noticeably harder punch at short range. Groupings at 100 yards remain tight despite its shorter range ballistics. Other differences include that the cartridge is a straight walled casing, unlike the .223/5.56, and it isn’t necessarily crimped.

Tune in to find out more about parts compatibility, magazines, hand loading, and muzzle velocities with the .450 Bushmaster!
