DeKalb, Illinois – The cast and crew of the AR-15 Podcast brings you episode 135 of the show! This week, we bring our valued listeners a look and discussion of the SOPMOD MK18 clones. So what are they first and foremost? The hosts take a brief look at the history of the platform and discuss its origins and evolution. The SOPMOD kits are primarily a set of modular accessory options and modifications for the M4 platform used by SOCOM. The MK18 is a completed rifle accessorized with close quarter battle (CQB)in mind. The MK18 originally arose from the idea that a dedicated CQB upper receiver would be available to special missions units.

The show centers around the various iterations of the MK18 as it’s used in different military branches, as well as the mutability of the platform to move between purpose niches. Everything from rails, barrels, and all the attendant accessories are discussed at length. Tune in for the discussion! and find out which version is best for you!
