Salt Lake City, UT -(AmmoLand.com)- The Mule Deer Foundation (MDF) announced earlier this month that two new chapters have been formed in New Mexico.

Located in the Portales/Clovis area and in Carlsbad, the new chapters provide an important new link for mule deer hunters and those who are passionate about conserving mule deer habitat. Both new chapters are in early stages of planning their first banquets likely to be held in late fall or early winter.

“Seeing this chapter growth and enthusiasm in the great state of New Mexico is really encouraging,” said MDF regional director, Charlie Stockstill. “These new chapters will help generate funding and new volunteers for on the ground conservation projects. The mule deer in New Mexico will definitely benefit from their hard work!”

The new chapters are already actively preparing for chapter banquets and volunteer projects. The Llano Estacado Chapter in the Portales/Clovis area have set their sights on funding water projects on Bureau of Land Management lands and are planning to host their first banquet before Thanksgiving to raise the necessary funds. The Carlsbad Chapter plans to coordinate habitat restoration projects in an area that has seen declining habitat and mule deer populations. They are looking to host their first banquet by the end of January 2016.

Both chapters will be helping the current Ruidoso Chapter on their banquet and will attend a mule deer status briefing later this month.
