Liberal CNBC The Big Loser at the GOP Presidential Debate

Thank You, CNBC, for a Wonderful Evening

USA -(Ammoland.com)- I dedicate the lead of this column to thanking CNBC for displaying its rank liberal bias the recent night's GOP presidential debate for all the world to see.

In relative terms, “all the world” is not that far off if you consider last night's audience size compared with the network's usually paltry ratings. The more people who saw this charade from the network's alleged moderators the better for America.

My first reaction as this spectacle unfolded was muted outrage, shaking my head that this atrophied arm of the mainstream liberal media would show its colors so overtly, without any pretense of objectivity, much less any concern about the substantive issues it deliberately ignored.

I was surprised not by CNBC's well-known bias but that its moderators brazenly abandoned any effort even to appear as journalists, if only for purposes of plausible deniability of their bias.

Their questions, to a man (and an annoying woman), were silly, inappropriate, small and largely irrelevant to the existential threats facing America today.

Every one of them might as well have said in advance:

“We are here to taunt you and turn you on one another with the pettiest and most ridiculous questions, knowing that despite our constantly harping on tolerance and bipartisanship, we have no interest in getting along with you, let alone treating you with a modicum of respect. We understand that our constituents — pseudo-journalists, after all, have constituents, too — hate every last one of you, with the possible exception of John Kasich, who gets a pass because he has admirably announced his contempt for you, as well.”

These arrogant clowns had obviously done extensive, though often embarrassingly flawed, opposition research on the candidates they wanted to single out for special abuse. There is no telling what kind of basement interns came up with these bizarre, arcane and failed gotchas, such as the effort to taint Ben Carson through some tangential association with a supposedly discredited company for which he gave several speeches.

My first reaction of mild angst was soon replaced by growing feelings of gratitude as I watched the Republican candidates, individually and together, begin to hit back — hard — at the moderators for their misconduct and journalistic adolescence. I tweeted at the time, “To some extent this is like watching a Charles Bronson movie — poorly produced, but great revenge gratification.”

Early on, Sen. Ted Cruz let them have it with both barrels, showing just why he is known as a champion debater and also why he should be regarded more favorably by skeptics.

Cruz's on-the-fly but minutely specific smack-down of the moderators, along with a noble defense of his competitors, showed that though he's smooth enough to sometimes sound scripted, he's not.

Rather, he is truly a gifted thinker and communicator.

Cruz said: “The questions that have been asked so far in this debate illustrate why the American people don't trust the media. This is not a cage match. And you look at the questions: ‘Donald Trump, are you a comic book villain?' ‘Ben Carson, can you do math?' ‘John Kasich, will you insult two people over here?' ‘Marco Rubio, why don't you resign?' ‘Jeb Bush, why have your numbers fallen?' How about talking about the substantive issues people care about?”

Other candidates — including Marco Rubio, Donald Trump and Mike Huckabee — similarly turned the tables back on their interrogators in a glorious display of camaraderie among rivals and a textbook example of the power of recapturing the offense from preening, pretentious, progressive prigs.

So let's thank CNBC for unwittingly setting the stage for Republicans to show what they're made of, the seriousness of their ideas, and their sober commitment to focusing on America's perilous problems instead of playing games.

Indeed, the main reason I'm pleased is not that the liberal media again exposed themselves. It is that Republican heavyweights showed what they can do when they work together against liberals who are destroying the country.

For a larger lesson could be learned from this if we'd just open our eyes to it and apply it. The establishment contingent always complains that the conservative wing of our party is quixotic, chasing after windmills in trying to stop Barack Obama's madness when it obviously doesn't have the votes.

What the establishment has never understood is that these budget battles and other fights are not a zero-sum game. We don't have to win every battle to ultimately win the war. Democrats realize that, as they have scrapped relentlessly for policies that never seemed possible a few short years ago but were willed into existence.

The candidates showed the power of behaving like conservatives — like adults who are no longer going to tolerate the trivialization of the nation's enormous problems and will unite against liberal cheap shot artists interested in driving the nation into further destruction.

Can you imagine the statement that could be made if the GOP establishment would quit throwing in the towel before our battles with Obama begin and the rest of the feckless Republican majorities would unify to stop Obama? Even if they fell short legislatively, they would energize their base and the entire electorate, who would see that we are not in fact saddled with a corrupt one-party system of Beltway fat cats who have no interest in taking America back. Voters would see we are dedicated to restoring sanity, prosperity, our defenses and our sovereignty.

I am allowed to dream that our side will recapture its vision — and its fire — am I not?

    1. Why do the Republican candidates expose themselves to this abuse? I ‘m very pleased that they were able to expose the biased moderators for what they are but how does that help forward the discussions about the real issues we have in America. The Republican party needs to wake up and realize that they need to control the where, when, who and how of these debates so we can have substantial discussions. There is no reason that we have to have liberal moderators running these debates.

The point of a primary debate is to try and determine who can best represent the party and ultimately defeat the Democratic opponent. Secondarily, it is a great opportunity to showcase and market Republican principals and ideals and contrast them with those of the opposition. Maybe that occurred last night, by accident, but it would have been much better for us if we just cut the liberals out of the show.

    2. LIBERALS & DEMOCRATS & EVEN GOP ESTABLISHMENT, TRUMP IS ON THE MOVE AND YOUR HAVE A HARD TIME STOPPING HIM NOW?

DID YOU SEE ALL THE GATES OF CORPORATIONS, SMALL AND LARGE BUSINESSES AND INDUSTRIAL FACTORIES CLOSE AFTER (NAFTA) THE MEXICAN TRADE TREATY CAME INTO EFFECT AFTER January 1, 1994? THEN JAPAN AND CHINA TOOK OVER AND YOU HEARD THE CLICK OF PADLOCKS AS OUR MANUFACTURING BASE MOVED OVERSEAS? DONALD TRUMP WILL CHANGE ALL THIS THROUGH RENEGOTIATING MORE HONEST, FREE TRADE AGREEMENTS. HE IS THE ONLY PRESIDENTIAL CONTENDER WHO WILL DARE TO FIX THE CORPORATE WELFARE AND OUR APPALLING TRADE AGREEMENTS.

DONALD TRUMP WILL ADD MORE JOBS, LESS TAXES AND A FAR SUPERIOR ECONOMY. NO INFLUENCE OF THE POWERFUL. THE WEALTHY BUYERS OF VOTES CANNOT AFFORD TRUMP. THIS IS WHY WASHINGTON IS SO CORRUPT. THE NASTY PHENOMENA OF LOBBYISTS CROWDING POLITICIANS WHILE THE CONGRESS AND SENATE ARE IN SESSION, OFFERING MONEY INCENTIVES TO ELECTION CAMPAIGNS, AND BUYING THEIR LOYALTY. EVEN THE MAINSTREAM MEDIA WILL LIE, AND NEVER TELL THE TRUTH? THERE PROPAGANDA SYNCHRONIZES WITH THE DEMOCRATS. THE PRESS WILL TAKE DONALD TRUMPS STATEMENTS OUT OF CONTEXT AND THEN PRINT IT. MOST PARAMOUNT IS ENDING ILLEGAL IMMIGRATION. WE MUST CURTAIL THE ILLEGAL ALIEN INVASION AND TRUMP WILL ACCOMPLISH THIS WITH THE WALL AND BACKING IT UP WITH MANDATORY E-VERIFY. NO MORE MR. NICE GUY WITH BUSINESS OWNERS WHO BREAK THE LAW. TRUMP WILL BREAK THE CURRENT FLOW OF POVERTY STRICKEN, SICK, AND MENTALLY ILL AND CRIMINALS FROM ALL OVER THE WORLD–COMPLIMENTS OF KING BARACK OBAMA? OUR FAIR TRADE TREATIES ARE NEITHER FAIR NOR EQUITABLE.

Do you remember the outcome of (NAFTA) the Mexican so called Trade agreement? In actual fact it was between Canada and Mexico, which was supposed to be a great free enterprise for the United States? Well we have had massive trade deficit since this outcome including the staggering $181 billion U.S. trade deficit with partners Mexico and Canada and the related loss of 1 million plus U.S. jobs under and growing income inequality; not to forget the displacement of more than one million Mexican campesino farmers and a desperate movement of illegal immigration from Mexico to survive. The non Free Trade is a nemesis for our country and huge profit margins for the mega companies, which has a serious impact on the American people.

The U.S. trade deficit with China was $318.7 billion in 2013. This is a new record, up slightly from last year’s record of $315 billion. The trade deficit exists regardless of the fact that U.S. exports to China were also the highest in history, at $121.7 billion. Nonetheless, imports from China also set a record — $440.5 billion, more than the $425 billion imported in 2012. The deficit keeps growing because imports are rising faster than exports. Japan’s trade deficit swelled to a record $109 billion in 2014. This is not the Free Trade which is theoretically to be talking about? The Multinational companies have stripped millions of jobs for America, and transported their mega corporations overseas and the trade with these countries and soon The Trans-Pacific Partnership (TPP) treaty that along with other treaties condemn us to a third world nation along with the growing poverty. The latest moves to Mexico or Overseas, Ford, Nabisco and Allegan.

You should consider how much more Donald Trump can do for your family, your relatives and the American people? Far much more than the puppets who must bear commitment to their wealthy benefactors that hand out the money. He needs nothing from them. They have no corruptible power or influence over him; they cannot buy him, unlike maybe Carson, Clinton, Bush, EXCEPT FOR I BELIEVE SEN. TED CRUZ. That’s why the so called high and mighty GOP or Democrats are proclaiming their battle lines to destroy Trump. They have no choice, because they are crippled by the money on loan from the special interests and that later want something from the legislators in return?

My personal observation is Trump should carry a gun, plus he should be provided with Secret Service bodyguards as his very divisive issues he will find dangerous enemies in corporate entities, Silicon Valley, Wall Street, and the countries who will not be happy campers when he starts to react to unfair policies.

I watched the Democratic cynical moderators yesterday in Boulder, Colorado using mostly ‘Gotcha Questions’ against the GOP career politicians and the outsiders. Trump was casual and very compliant and didn’t let any remarks catch him irritated. I believe he is realizing that he must quell his temper, when it comes to handling people? But that doesn’t mean foreign dignitaries or domestic lawmakers, who assume he can be intimidated, think he is easy prey?

    3. “Journalists” report. Report on external conditions and occurrences. Hacks falsely operate under the name of ‘journalist’, but have an agenda to push a biased narrative to cause the viewer/reader to form a pre-determined opinion/conclusion which is incorrect due to the manipulation of the data presented.

    4. You don’t get any real substance from any of the major news outlets anymore liberal or conservative it is all just propaganda and entertainment news.

    5. I have a new found respect for Mr Cruz. He showed a lot of savvy in pointing out the bias of the moderators without losing his cool. I am giving him a serious look now. Good job Ted.
