WSI Sports Partners with Grand Slam Club/Ovis; Donates Cold Weather Apparel for Hunts

EAGAN, MINN, (Ammoland.Com) – WSI Sportswear, offering quality performance gear and sportswear made in the U.S.A, is partnering with Grand Slam Club/Ovis and their Wounded Veterans Hunt Program on this Veteran’s Day by donating cold weather apparel to wounded veterans selected through GSCO’s new program to send wounded veterans on big game hunts.

WSI Sportswear is also creating a custom apparel piece for GSCO to sell online where a percentage of the sale will go directly to support their Wounded Veterans Hunt Program. The shirts will prominently feature the program logo with the Slogan “I support” emblazoned across the top and will be offered in short sleeve and long sleeve versions. Plus, for every shirt sold, WSI Sports will send a shirt to a veteran.

WSI Sportswear teams with Grand Slam/OvisIn just its second year, GSCO’s Wounded Veteran Hunt Program has seen amazing support, with several generous donors stepping forward to perpetuate it year after year. A panel of American military veterans evaluates applications and select up to three finalists, who are then flown to Las Vegas for GSCO’s annual Slam Quest Convention. Each finalist is recognized for their military service and presented with a FREE big game hunt during the convention. For full details on how to apply visit

The apparel donated by WSI Sports will be from their WikMax HEATR line – a proprietary fabric that generates heat when worn. HEATR absorbs and maintains heat better than wool or other fibers. “It also wicks moisture better than other materials,” said Joel Wiens, CEO and Founder of WSI Sports. “We make gloves, hats, tops and more out of our HEATR material. Getting cold from wet material could mean your hunt is immediately over and we absolutely don’t want that.”

From being the go-to source for top athletes to now helping wounded veterans stay warm and dry on their hunts, Wiens says this is important to him and the WSI team. “Being a company that completely embraces the Made in the USA label and what that stands for runs parallel to helping our brothers and sisters when they come home from serving our great country. They deserve to experience these therapeutic outdoor adventures and we want to ensure they don’t have to worry about staying warm; they can focus on the hunt.”
