Chatsworth, IL -(AmmoLand.com)- At last the President has signed the National Defense Authorization Act (NDAA). This has several important provisions for gun owners.
Most important, there are thousands of 1911’s that will be released for sale through the Civilian Marksmanship Program (CMP). The past few months, I have received many phone calls from people who would love to own one of these historic firearms.
I still can’t tell you when these vintage 1911’s will be available. I can tell you that one of the things the CMP will require is a membership card from a CMP affiliate. The ISRA is the CMP state affiliate. So, if you would like to purchase one of these famed firearms, join the Illinois State Rifle Association.
Also included in the NDAA is a prohibition on the EPA (Environmental Protection Agency) that prevents them from banning traditional ammunition. While this is a great improvement, expect the EPA to try to worm their way around it. There is also a provision that allows local Commanders to allow soldiers under their command to be armed on base; we will see how this plays out. Expect these Commanders to be under political pressure to deny this right to soldiers. Anti-gunners NEVER QUIT… always remember that.
In Texas five intruders invaded a home. When the intruders entered the homeowner’s bedroom, the home owner fired through a closet door sending the intruders running into the night. The police stopped the car the assailants were in, and one was dead – a positive step towards relieving prison overcrowding.
Here are some fun gun facts we should all be aware of. This comes from the PEW research center poll:
- 31% of women report having a gun in the home.
- In established concealed carry states, (Florida, Texas, Tennessee, and Washington State), female concealed carry permit holders make up between 22% – 30%.
- In gun owning homes, women own 26% of the firearms – way to go ladies!
Despite all this good news the anti-gun wackos are still well financed and ruthless.
I have been warning everyone that there would be a terrorist attack on some soft target somewhere in the United States similar to what happened in Paris. The first attack came yesterday in San Bernardino, California. You will notice I said the first attack. I’m sure this will inspire more attacks. The left-wingers are already screaming for more gun control. It doesn’t matter that armed murderers couldn’t care less about gun control, if anything, it helps them. It doesn’t matter that more gun control wouldn’t do any good against criminals and terrorists like these attackers. The anti-gunners want any excuse they can find to take away your guns.
We MUST be prepared for legal, legislative, and media assaults on the Second Amendment. Do me a favor and give an ISRA membership for Christmas, Hanukkah, or just because it is a great idea.
