Tucson, AZ – Joseph Hosmer, Safari Club International Foundation President, announced that SCI Foundation’s “Foundation Day” events will kick off the 2016 SCI Convention on February 2, 2016. The day features the 4th Annual SCI Foundation Sporting Clays Shoot and the 2nd Annual Beretta & SCI Foundation Conservation Leadership Award Gala. Both events benefit SCI Foundation and support its many programs.
Foundation Day begins with a “pull” and a “bang” with the 4th Annual SCI Foundation Sporting Clays Shoot. The event benefits SCI Foundation youth programs, including its partnership with the Boy Scouts of America. Krieghoff International has once again pledged to sponsor the shoot by donating a Krieghoff 32″ K-80 Pro-Sporter under/over, 12 gauge shotgun valued at over $11,000. The clay shoot will take place at the Clark County Shooting Complex in Las Vegas, NV. A big bore rifle shoot option, where you can try out some of Krieghoff’s rifles, is scheduled immediately following lunch, with Hornady again sponsoring the rifle ammunition for the event.
The evening will culminate in an exclusive, black-tie event which will feature the 2016 Beretta & SCI Foundation Conservation Leadership Award ceremony, a gourmet dinner, live entertainment, silent auction and an elite live auction, featuring one-of-a-kind items including a custom watch by Montana Watch Company, an original oil painting by Michael Coleman, several amazing hunting and vacation opportunities. The centerpiece of the auction will be a very special Beretta side-by-side shotgun the 486 by Marc Newson, designed specifically for Beretta by the world famous industrial designer, Marc Newson. This year’s entertainment will include a classical guitarist, humorist, and a special visit from a “true hero” of conservation. The 2016 Conservation Leadership Award Gala will be held in the Islander Ballroom of the Mandalay Bay Convention Center in Las Vegas, NV. Cocktail hour will begin at six o’clock and dinner will follow at seven o’clock.
The Beretta Conservation Leadership Award, the most prestigious award of its kind, honors individuals who have demonstrated a lifetime of commitment to wildlife conservation and education though volunteer service and philanthropy. Winners are required to have extensive hunting experience, but will also be required to have contributed generously to Conservation, Education and Humanitarian Services efforts in both time and financial resources. This award is open to anyone in the hunting-conservation world and is not limited to SCI members.
“Beretta, one of the oldest companies in the world, understands the importance for preservation and protection through a focus on wildlife conservation. As such, we are thrilled and honored to be the lead sponsor of this exciting new award which pays tribute to a hunter-conservationist who has made a lasting impact through their time afield and via their community and philanthropic efforts. Beretta proudly supports SCI Foundation because of its critical mission of wildlife conservation and education.” – Ryan Muety, Vice President Sales & Marketing, Beretta USA
