Ft Collins, CO –-(Ammoland.com)- The man who waited….

“We are approaching ultimate inversion: where government is free to do anything, while citizens may act only by permission.” ~ Anon

The family of man who froze to death in his stranded vehicle, while patiently waiting for promised help that never came, on a NY highway during a November snowstorm has just announced that they are filing a claim against the State of NY, the county involved, and the State DOT.

Of course, units of government have, through legislation, so thoroughly insulated themselves against all such claims that there is scant chance of this one ever seeing the light of day.

The victim in this case made numerous phone calls from his stranded vehicle to 911, AAA, et al and was repeatedly ordered to stay put, and assured that help was “on the way.”

That was a lie! Help was never on the way, and he died waiting for it. The entire LE and DOT systems were hopelessly overloaded, and State authorities, enforcing a travel ban, prevented AAA from sending a tow truck.

The point is this: “Who live on hope, will die fasting.” ~ B Franklin

A government that has promoted enforced dependency, in a cynical attempt to garner votes from the chronically dependant and permanently unproductive, now casually admits that they cannot possibly live up to false expectations they themselves have promised!

Loosely translated into plain English: It takes virtually nothing to overwhelm the System, leaving naively expectant citizens waiting for “help” that never comes!

As liberals/leftists condescendingly denigrate personal preparedness [preppers], particularly being armed, out of the other side of their mouths comes the sheepish admission that, in virtually any kind of emergency, we are all “on our own!

This is the kind of double-talk that infuriates voters, and should. Bureaucrats quetch endlessly that their various departments are “just not big enough.” Yet, with each growth in size, complaints, far from diminishing, expand exponentially. Bureaucracies quickly and invariably develop a cozy, symbiotic relationship with the very “problems” they are supposed to “solve. ” The cycle is never-ending!

Amid perpetual scandals, they always claim to be doing the best they can. Sorry, but this taxpayer is fresh out of sympathy!

What will save our Republic is an audacious rebirth of personal preparedness and personal independence, not more dependence and bigger and more intrusive bureaucracies.

With any luck, we are, at long last, leaning this painful lesson!

“When you see that in order to produce, you need to obtain permission from men who produce nothing. When you see that money is flowing to those who deal, not in goods, but in favors. When you see that men get richer by graft and pull, than by work, and your laws don’t protect you against them, but protect them against you. When you see corruption being rewarded, and honesty becoming a self-sacrifice, you may know that your society is doomed.” ~ Ayn Rand

@Mikial – The real problems begin when the “We are on our own” becomes “Every man for himself”. Then the guy in charge can use ‘martial law’ to bring about the “Hope and Change” he wants.

Mikial

The government not only cannot protect you, they will not. We are on our own.

Rob Thomas

Go about your life as if no one will be able to help you. Self reliance wins the day.

The NY state Gubberment is so corrupt the FBI has billboards around Albany,NY(state of NY capitol) to encourage Gubberment workers to turn in Gubberment crooks-that’s bad….and your paying for it!

Never EVER trust anything you hear from ANY level of Government! “Stay where you are, we’ll be right there.” NO you wont! “Shelter in place, help is on the way.” Liar, Liar, get out any way you can. 2 weeks later you can return and the promised help still HAS not been there! “Stay on the line sir, help is on the way.” BS, pick up your biggest gun and Handle it, someone will come by in the next day or so to take a report.

To Buck Fievre: to fact check its called Internet search and help you out with it. https://www.wkbw.com/news/family-of-man-who-died-in-snowvember-storm-to-sue Also the roads may have been still open when Donald Abate started traveling home. But hey this article isn’t about Donald Abate it’s about the idea of being self-reliant without the help of the government and the foolishness of people that put too much trust in a government body providing for them.

The BIGGER the government, the SMALLER the citizen. If you don’t know what that means, you’re part of the problem.

“Any change is resisted because bureaucrats have a vested interest in the chaos in which they exist.” – Richard M. Nixon

“Mighty little force is needed to control a man whose mind has been hoodwinked; contrariwise, no amount of force can control a free man, a man whose mind is free. No, not the rack, not fission bombs, not anything — you can’t conquer a free man; the most you can do is kill him.” —Robert A. Heinlein

Buck Fievre

So “a man” — that’s all the information we’re given, so there’s no way to fact check any of this nonsense — goes out during a road closure, freezes to death because a savior tow-truck driver obeys the same road closure and/or because emergency responders are overloaded with other “help me, help me!” types, and that’s proof that government is evil? Wing-nuttery raised to a whole new level. I would say that at 20 points, “quetch” is a pretty decent Scrabble word.

Clark Kent (really?) Dude are you so disconnected with reality you cannot even recognize the system is inherently designed to perpetuate crime? Please explain to me why criminals have more rights than their victims. OH YES THEY DO!!!! Please explain to me how a 13 time convicted felon was able to be released after 3 months and meet mu daughter. Hoaxing my entire family into 6 months of traveling to “move to Scotland” Meanwhile afterwards I learned of this persons activities from the FBI and the BATF while the local constabulary knew exactly who this person was and warned No… Read more »

G.K. Chesterton points out in The Outline of Sanity, that a man cannot truly be free if he is dependant for necessities (like water) on someone else. Because the moment the other party wants us to obey their desires all they have to do is close of access to whatever vital substance they control.

Clark Kent, ATF, FBI, Chicago PD, etc.

Jimmy Olson

Hey Clark – A small bit of advice: Don’t be an idiot your entire life, okay?
Why didn’t you ask the man why the sky was blue, for God’s sake. I guess
you weren’t the sharpest knife in the drawer, eh?

The criminal gets arrested, the judicial system, sets the criminal up for a while or back out on the street to be arrested again and again. Keeping all occupied.

Sadly it has been pointed out to by many; less crime, less cops. Most cops are honest, hard working and try to be fair. But their superiors [And all cops generally] know that there needs to be plenty of laws, new ones too, to keep a healthy budget. As has been discussed repeatedly cops get hired by being in a LOWER intelligence range and it’s perfectly fine with the court system . So not to bright cops combined with more and more laws means that “protecting the public” is a job skill but not top priority with many police brass.… Read more »

Mr. Farnam: Please tell me, exactly, how police departments develop a ‘cozy, symbiotic relationship’ with crime. I will be patiently waiting for a reply. By the way, were you ever a sworn police officer or just a pretend wanna-be?
