Gilbert, AZ –-(Ammoland.com)- Stephen Colbert once again illustrates the hypocrisy of the New York City’s selective persecution of knife owners, flashing an OTF (out the front) switchblade (automatic) knife on his show while making fun of Knife Rights’ Wisconsin Knife Law Reform bill being signed by Governor Scott Walker earlier this month (5:40 in video below).
Over 60,000 people have been prosecuted for carrying common locking blade folding knives in New York City, accused of carrying a per se illegal gravity knife or switchblade and facing up to a year in jail.
In the case of the actual switchblade he was using, there’s no question that it would be illegal under NY law. But, we doubt that DA Cyrus Vance, Jr’s prosecutors will be dragging Colbert into court over it anytime soon.
They only seem interested in prosecuting innocent and honest knife owners carrying common folding knives in the streets and subways of New York City.
Back in 2010 Colbert first made fun of the sad situation in NYC, whipping out a Benchmade Barrage assisted-opening folder that would most likely have been considered illegal under NYC’s gravity knife test.
Unsurprisingly, no arrest was made at that time, either.
