Saginaw, MI -(AmmoLand.com)- Outdoor retailer Cabela’s Inc. is offering a special deal in February, where signing up for a National Rifle Association membership earns the shopper a $25 gift card to the store.
Cabela’s location in Saginaw County announced plans Monday, Feb. 8, for the “Second Amendment Classic” Feb. 11-21 and “NRA Weekend” event Feb. 13-14. Similar events are planned at Cabela’s retail locations nationwide, including Michigan stores in Dundee and Grandville.
The “NRA Weekend,” conducted in partnership with the 144-year-old gun rights advocate organization, features an NRA membership drive and a series of firearm safety courses, educational workshops and in-store product demonstrations.
Any new or current NRA member who joins or renews membership to the organization during the event will receive a $25 Cabela’s gift card as part of the weekend promotion, a partnership between the NRA and Cabela’s, the retailer said in a press release.
A basic one-year NRA membership is currently offered on the organization’s website for $25, though it cites the normal price as $35.
Membership to the group surpassed 5 million in 2013, according to NRA leaders, though some have questioned the membership numbers the organization has claimed over the years.
Cabela’s, headquartered in Nebraska, sells fishing, camping and other outdoor merchandise in addition to firearms and other hunting gear. It’s slogan bills the stores as the “World’s Foremost Outfitter.”
During the “Second Amendment Classic,” stores will offer sales, activities, free workshops and in-store demonstrations.
Seminars and events will vary by location, but could include firearm safety, selection, fitting and concealed-carry options, ammunition selection and firearm and ammunition storage solutions.
The current schedules at Michigan stores include events such as “Gun Cleaning 101” and “Protection Outside the Home.”

Cabela’s also is offering shoppers monthly prize packages through its Aim Small, Win Big Sweepstakes. The packages include a Savage MOD A17 17HHR rifle with scope, 200 rounds of ammunition, several accessories and a lifetime NRA membership.
