Hearing Protection Act passes House vote 76 to 20; ATV Carry Act passes Senate vote 43 to 4
Clive, IA -(AmmoLand.com)- Wow! Another solid day for IFC bills in the Iowa legislature! As you can see both the Hearing Protection Act and the ATV Carry Act passed their votes today with ease.
Those of you who've been paying attention will know the Hearing Protection Act is now all set for Governor Terry Branstad's signature. We believe that will happen by April 1st. Once the governor signs it Iowa will officially be the 42nd state in the nation where private citizens can legally own suppressors.
Missed the live stream of today's vote? Watch the video archive of the floor debate and vote HERE.
In the Senate, the ATV Carry Act was passed with an amendment. It is now up to the House to approve, amend or deny the Senate's amendment. The Iowa Firearms Coalition has opposed this amendment from the start.
No word yet on if or when the Senate plans to bring the Privacy Protection Act to a vote. That bill has also been heavily amended by Senate Democrats, and the Iowa Firearms Coalition opposes that amendment as well.
Finally, don't forget, we're offering a short-term discount on IFC life memberships. $500 life memberships have been marked down to $300 in honor of the suppressor bill finally passing the Senate. Use the code “Suppressors2016” to take $200 off your life membership purchase.
NOTE: if you’re a current IFC member email us at “[email protected]” to apply your coupon code. If you can't manage the cost of a life membership you can always sign up for an annual membership. Visit membership.iowafc.org to become a member.
We're truly thankful to have the support of so many great Iowans. Other groups of Iowa gun owners talk a big game, but year after year they flat out fail to deliver or get anything actually done in the legislature. You folks are the secret to our success. It's a pleasure to work on your behalf. Thank you!
Oh, and we're not done for the year just yet, more updates to come!
