Tucson, AZ – (AmmoLand.com) Joseph Hosmer, President, Safari Club International Foundation (SCI Foundation), announced today that the Mzuri Wildlife Foundation (MWF) will be sponsoring scholarships for 7 California teachers to attend SCI Foundation’s American Wilderness Leadership School (AWLS) program in 2016. MWF is pleased to partner with Safari Club International Foundation (SCIF) to provide teachers with instruction in conservation and ecology for California teachers.
AWLS is professional development for educators. The eight day course is about learning to use the outdoors as a classroom – balancing indoor with outdoor classes. It teaches methods to incorporate conservation education lessons into existing curriculum content: math, science, language arts, social studies, physical education and art.
The goal of the program is to educate teachers and students about the hows and whys of conservation and to prepare them to return home and share that message with students, classmates, colleagues and friends. The North American Model of Wildlife Management is the core of conservation understanding.
“We applaud the vital role that California teachers play in their ability to bring new programs to life in urban classes. . .” stated Sandra Froman, President of the Mzuri Wildlife Foundation. Froman, a SCI Life Member, also stated: “. . . and we are pleased to offer scholarship opportunities to California teachers to bring lessons in conservation and ecology back to their eager students.”
The Mzuri Wildlife Foundation is a 48 year old organization that focuses on wildlife conservation and with an emphasis on educating and encouraging youth and women in hunting and the shooting sports.
