Roseville, CA -(AmmoLand.com)- When someone's home is broken into, there are a thousand things on their mind. From insurance paperwork to police reports, it is an overwhelming time.

But now the government wants to make it even harder to get through it all, placing new requirements on those who had a firearm stolen…

And if you fill it out incorrectly or don't turn it in on time you may be prosecuted as a criminal.

SB 894 requires every person, with few exceptions, to report the theft or loss of a firearm he or she owns or possesses to a local law enforcement agency in the jurisdiction in which the theft or loss occurred within 5 days of the time he or she knew or “reasonably” should have known that the firearm had been stolen or lost.

Under SB 894, if a person forgets to submit the paperwork in a timely fashion, either because they are emotionally stressed or because they misplaced the police paperwork, and turns it in on the 6th day, they could then be charged on the spot with an infraction and fine.

In typical fashion, the politicians in Sacramento are more concerned with the people that follow the law and couldn't care less about criminals that steal firearms from law-abiding gun owners.

    1. COWlifornication is so totally screwed up soo they get what they have allowed. Let the genocide begin… Watch the “sanctuary cities” melt down into chaos. They deserve it. Who is the Governor of COWlifornication anyway Angela Merkel?

      SARCASM INTENDED.

      1. No, you’re brain dead. Actually, I know you aren’t brain dead, you’re just a putz with a keyboard. California has plenty of people who vote to the right, but there are just slightly more who vote to the left, which makes us all at the mercy of people like that cheating bastard Newsome and his sissy agenda. The struggle is constant to strike a fair and reasonable balance, but it isn’t easy.

    2. The people of that State got what they voted for. They made their bed, now let them sleep in it! Such a State of lost souls. The sad part of it is, it used to be such a beautiful place to visit and vacation. Years ago, after working in the Sacatomato area, I even thought about moving there permanently… sure glad I didn’t.

      1. It’s not so simplistic or as generalized as you stated. It’s a culmination of many Federal, State, and local polices. Look at the rise Kevin De Leon, son of an illegal alien. The blue votes come from the big cities which out number the rural areas.

        1. As a 4th generation Californian (my daughter is 5th), whose father still lives on part of the original homestead, I thank you

My grandfather fought in WW1. My father served in WW2 (he was already there when McArthur waded ashore), Korea, and during Vietnam for a total of 20+ years. I served in Vietnam and completed 21+ years. Each of us took an oath we continue to live. We served to defend the rights of ALL. We did not pick and choose who we did it for, nor did we pick and choose which rights we would defend. We just accepted a higher calling.

If all veterans, past and present stood up, along with all the hunters and the rest of the 2A supporters, it would be game over for the progressives. The same holds for law enforcement. The rank and file officers overwhelmingly support the 2A. We just picked up support from the California Game Wardens. We already have the support of the majority of the County Sheriffs. Perhaps the tide is beginning to turn. Getting to this point didn’t happen overnight, and it’s not going to be fixed overnight.
