Henrico, VA -(AmmoLand.com)- Two of our nations true heroes had the opportunity to participate in the 2nd Annual Old Dominion One Shot Turkey Hunt April 15-16 thanks to the generosity of The Wildlife Foundation of Virginia and the Virginia Department of Game & Inland Fisheries.
Freedom Hunters Board Member and East Coast Coordinator, Bud DePlachett, noted that wounded service members Ben and Tad were teamed up with local landowners and guides to hunt some of the finest turkey woods Virginia has to offer. Ben, a Purple Heart recipient, harvested a nice gobbler which earned him the prize for the “longest spurs” in the competition!
Tad had an opportunity to take a Tom that has affectionately now been named “the Bald Eagle Tom” (due to it’s baseball sized white head) but couldn’t quite close the deal as the gobblers luck was a little stronger than Tads this day. Congratulations and “Thank You” to these two warriors for their service to our country and on being selected by Freedom Hunters to represent the military at the hunt.
Thank you also to The Wildlife Foundation of Virginia for allowing Freedom Hunters to be a part of this great event by sending two of “Our Nations Finest” on this exciting adventure!
