USA –  -(Ammoland.com)- The Cleveland Police union boss has made an emergency request to suspend open carry for the duration of the Republican convention inside parts of the City of Cleveland.

“We are sending a letter to Gov. Kasich requesting assistance from him. He could very easily do some kind of executive order or something — I don’t care if it’s constitutional or not at this point,” Cleveland Police Union president Stephen Loomis told CNN.

Once more powers that be want to target honest gun owners, if the police union boss really does not care about our rights, why doesn't he want to suspend the right to free speech and shut down all the protesters.

If it is really about safety, why target law abiding gun owners, why not everyone. Bad people don't follow laws and anyone that wants to kill cops or shoot conservatives will not follow an order that suspend our rights and they will bring guns no matter what. This requests would only effect people that follow the law in the first place.

Ohio's open carry laws allow anyone without a felony record to carry guns in the state, including in downtown Cleveland, but not inside the U.S. Secret Service security zone around Quicken Loans Arena, where the RNC will be held Monday through Thursday.

Ohio Gov. John Kasich responded saying that Ohio governors don't have the power to arbitrarily suspend federal and state constitutional rights or laws.

  1. I feel for the guy, though I cannot quite reach him. Otherwise, now and then I too have the odd wet dream of power, dreams that remain unfullfilled.

  2. GOOD MAN… About time a politician does what he thinks and knows is ryte instead of just doing whatever they think they can get away with … AWESOME ALL OTHER POLITICIANS SHOULD TAKE NOT OF WHAT OHIO’S GOOD MAN IS SAYING AND DOING!!!

  3. Loomis says he was born in Milwaukee but was born in Toledo. The man is sick and needs to go on down the road. 95%patrol officer Union despise this fool.

  4. Note to Mr Loomis:

There are a bunch of things I too “wish” for. Poor me, I do not get them either. MEanwhile, the convention has been held, and in so far as I know, there was no discharge of weapons by anyone.

  5. So if someone grabbed him and threw him in a cell, it should be ok since he doesn’t care about constitutional rights.

  6. @wild bill. Union Officials are elected from within the ranks. All Officers are sworn to uphold the Law of the Land (Constitution). Which part of “Shall not be infringed” are you confused about?

    1. @Dave, Well, I am not confused about the “…shall not be infringed…” part at all. I suspect that we probably share a similar view of it. But I am confused about the rules of that particular police union, specifically: Do the members lot the CPPA have the power to “dismiss” their union president during his term? If so, what is that mechanism? Or can the CPPA only rid themselves of their union president by not electing him next time.

  7. Suspend it all you want there fat man…it won’t do any good, for those of us who know – and take very seriously – our Constitutional rights, don’t give a shit about unconstitutional edicts passed by elected or unelected ‘officials’ that have no business altering the rights we bear as citizens. Advice for you; lay off the double whoppers with cheese.

  8. It is an honorable position. He has soiled it and failed his oath. He needs to be dismissed. There must be qualified people available who can handle the responsibility.

    1. @Dave, President Steve Loomis is pres. of a union. I don’t think that he takes an oath. I don’t know if he has done anything wrong under the Cleveland Police Patrolman’s Association rules. I don’t know if the CPPA can remove Loomis other than electing someone else next time. Or maybe they could take him to Arby’s for breakfast, lunch, and dinner everyday!

  9. The chief was wrong to ask for illegal suspension of gun rights. however it’s an old story and Gov. Kasich did NOT suspend our right to carry because he did not have the authority to do so.

    1. No, no, let him continue eating and drinking just as he has been, and the next article about him will be in the obituary column. I’d send him a case of cigarettes if I knew that he would use them. Eat up, drink up, and smoke up, Steve Loomis!

  10. While few paid attention , the communists made huge inroads into the fabric of American Life!
In 2012 they had the power to have Obama ‘re-elected’. Presently, but quietly, they will continue the communist agenda by attempting to place the socialist/progressive/communist candidate into power.

Subterfuge……offer a big salary, but demand obedience! It’s no different than selling your soul!

    Just like the Clintons did!
