Las Vegas, NV –-(Ammoland.com)- WVTM TV 13 NBC reports this week (7/29/2016) in Birmingham, Alabama, Officers from were dispatched to a home on Ethel Avenue around 2:20 a.m. The resident heard an unusual sound and called 911.
The sound she had heard was an intruder taking the air conditioner out of her window and climbing inside. She grabbed her pink Millennium 9 pistol, walked out of the bedroom door and saw a male intruder in the hallway.
She said “He was kind of close to me so I shot and he fell”. At that point, she turned on the lights and called 911.
She told Officers, “This was my first time pointing and shooting. I never been to a gun range. I never went to target practice or anything. I was just, at the time, protecting myself.” She said she shot two or three times, hitting the intruder once.
The man was taken to UAB and is expected to recover, according to police.
She bought the pistol two years ago for protection. She’s lived in this home for seven months and her house has already been broken into three times. Two days prior she had heard somebody trying to break in at the same spot. Now five months pregnant, she plans on moving. DUH
Her comment to the media:
She said she’s not scared, but “It was immediate. Once I saw him I instantly, it was just fire, it was adrenaline rush, scared, need to protect myself and my child. It was just fire at that time. It wasn’t no see who it was. It was pitch black. All the lights was off. So I didn’t turn any of the lights on because if he came in and saw me, he could have harmed me before I harmed him.”
“You have to protect yourself. Without a doubt. Take matters into your own hands. Get some type of protection. Don’t take anything for granted. You got to protect you and your child. Be strong. If it comes down to that, then that’s what you have to do. Don’t be scared.”
Terrific! Hopefully when this idiot recovers, he’ll find a new career!
Having a gun even without training is way ahead of being an unarmed victim. Imagine how cool under threat she would have been with firearm instruction and some actual practice!
According to researcher John Lott’s recent research findings, “The number of women with permits has increased twice as quickly as the number of men with permits.”
