Ft Collins, CO –-(Ammoland.com)- Lessons from San Bernardino:

Other than the obvious lesson that being constantly armed is essential in our current age, here are some additional points gleaned from reports on the Islamic terrorist attack in San Bernardino, CA on 2 Dec 15 at the County Public Health Department’s Christmas party.

People at the gathering reporting hearing multiple “popping sounds.” Moments later, a person clad in black, wearing a mask, and bearing a rifle, started shooting at attendees.

(1) Warning is scant! Denial/hesitation is lethal. Always have a plan and exit-strategy in place.

(2) People in motion get hit less often than people who are stationary. So, get in motion instantly. You can decide what to do WHILE you’re moving!

(3) Some victims waited for instructions. They’re still waiting! You must think independently and be courageous enough to act unilaterally, and quickly, upon your own conclusions and judgement. Waiting for/seeking “approval ” or “consensus” will be fatal.

(4) In the San Bernardino attack, a second active murderer followed the first. So, don’t relax too soon! In modern terrorist attacks, it is best to assume the presence of multiple threats.

(5) As I’ve said before, “rescue” is mostly myth. The attack will likely be over long before even the first police arrive, much less the SWAT Team. In the interim, you’re on your own!

There is no magic formula for living through a terrorist attack. However, in the coming months, probably years, many will be presented with the opportunity to try!

For my part, I’ll surely do my best to practice avoidance, but in any event, they’re not getting me without a fight!

I do not understand why GFZ’s are not required to have positive controls in place (i.e., beefed up security, metal detectors, etc.).

I am positive that the real truth is that gov’t does NOT want us to protect ourselves and how truly sad is that. I thought part of govt’s responsibility was to protect its citizens. I am not a sheep and i will not just sit around and end up a so called victim, no thank you. . . . .

Government have NO DUTY to “protect” we citizens. No, their duty is to PROTECT OUR RIGHTS.

The duty for “the security of a free state” rests on the PEOPLE, often formed up together into militia, each taking care of their own immediate area. What is the militia? It is quite simply the people….. armed with our own weapons, and having acquired the skills needed to see to “the security of a free state”. “State” in this sense means organised society. A village is “a state”…

The SCOTUS has ruled that the police do not have a CONSTITUTIONAL duty to protect you. Yet at least 8 states make it almost impossible to get a CCW permit nor recognize out of state permits as in MD, NY and NJ off the top of my head.

unfortunately too many of the buildings where these attacks may happen are GFZs. Some we can ignore the signs and pack anyway, others have guards and metal detectors. Government is making it more difficult to defend ones self.

I’m not too worried, yet, about the places with inspections and metal detectors. Likely the worst scenario in those paces is some clown brings in a ceramic knife. With a bit of cooperation, a few putative victims can disarm such an one fairly quickly. Escape is also far easiier, as few are skilled at throwing knives, and even then the range is short. Its the other Disarmed victim COncentration Zones that are the scary ones. I my state, only a few named government facilities are truly gun free, and all by law MUST have specified signage and individual inspection.m,etal detectors,… Read more »
