NEW HAVEN, Conn. -(Ammoland.com)- With the launch of the classically-designed Patriot hunting rifle in 2015, Mossberg set the standard for the modern bolt-action rifle.

Now Mossberg broadens the series offerings with a line of Patriot Predator models in three sought-after calibers: 6.5mm Creedmoor, 243 Win and 308 Win.

These purpose-built rifles are housed in a durable Flat Dark Earth (FDE) synthetic stock, suppressor ready and packed with performance-enhancing, premium features.

The Patriot Predator has Mossberg’s proven twin-lug, push-feed machined-steel action at its core, fed from a lightweight polymer, flush 4-round box magazine.

The standard contour, free-floating 22-inch barrels feature straight-edge fluting and are threaded (5/8”- 24 threads per inch) for the addition of a suppressor. A protective cap is included.

The barrels are constructed of carbon steel and feature a non-reflective, matte blue finish. For consistent shot-after-shot placement, every Patriot rifle features Mossberg’s patented LBA (Lightning Bolt Action) user-adjustable trigger with a 2 to 7 pound range of adjustment.

A top-mounted Picatinny rail provides for ease of mounting and repositioning optics. And completing this feature-loaded bolt-action package are oversized bolt handles; spiral-fluted bolts; and sling swivel studs.

The classically-styled stock on the Patriot Predator rifle is well-designed for comfort and reduced felt recoil with its straight comb, rounded edges and raised cheekpiece. Giving the stock a modern feel is textured stippling on the grip and three surface areas of the forend; and for greater versatility through multiple seasons and varied terrain, the stock is finished in Flat Dark Earth.

A polymer block insert with integral magazine well provides a simple, but effective bedding platform. Rounding out the stock design is a traditional black rubber recoil pad.

For the first time, Mossberg is offering 6.5mm Creedmoor in the Patriot family of bolt-action rifles.

This flat-shooting caliber is popular with varmint and predator hunters for its long-range ballistic performance, lighter recoil and reduced shooter fatigue; and this Patriot Predator has a 1:8 twist rate. The venerable 243 Win and 308 Win offerings feature 1:10 twist rates.

Why take just any rifle in the field; when you can take a purpose-built, feature-loaded Mossberg Patriot Predator to do the job?

Can a muzzle brake be put on this rifle or do you have to have a gunsmith do that for you.?? I was told that if the barrel is threaded then you can just screw it in. Is that true?
