SUFFIELD, Conn. -(Ammoland.com)- Savage Arms recently announced two models of semi-automatic Modern Sporting Rifles to its popular lineup of high-performance firearms.

On the AR-15 platform, the new MSR 15 Recon and MSR 15 Patrol are chambered in 223 Wylde, which enhances out-of-the-box accuracy and allows safe, reliable function with both 223 Rem. and 5.56x45mm ammunition.

Both rifles redefine the category with the kind of tack-driving precision and seamless performance you’d expect from a Savage. Shipments are currently being delivered to dealers.

Savage’s new MSR 15 Recon comes standard with upgrades serious shooters demand, including a BLACKHAWK! AR Blaze trigger, free-float handguard and upgraded Savage barrel with a 223 Wylde target chamber.

Its 5R rifling and a Melonite QPQ finish ensure the most consistent, accurate performance in any conditions, while the Recon’s custom-forged lower receiver and BLACKHAWK! adjustable buttstock and pistol grip impart a look that stands out from the crowd.

Features:

  • Custom forged lower receiver for unique look
  • Melonite QPQ 16 1/8-inch barrel with 5R rifling

Mounted a scope to the weapon unable to sight in the scope. Took the weapon to a firearms expert and left weapon with them to zero the scope. Two experts tried and were both unsuccessful at both Scope and open iron sights. weapon fires each shot all over the place. Unable to sight in at 50yds 100yds ,150yds , Both experts instructed me… Read more »

It is possible what with all the trading of ownership of Savage Arms in the past 10 or so years, part of Caliber Company, acquired by ATK, then sold to Vista Outdoor (that’s a basic history recently); that there was just too much transitioning going on to focus on a competitive product for the AR market. Plus the complaints about a representative logo the company had for a loooong time. Apparently they were worthy in the firearms marketplace regardless, or they probably would not still be in existence, since 1859. Hopefully they are in good stable hands now, and the… Read more »

for what the MSPP Is on the recon it great on paper. the average for this in other companies is 1400.00 to a high of 1700.00 and they do not have the Wylde chamber. I sure want to see real range reports on these ARs soon.

A little late to the ball game but it looks nice. Typical manufactures not listening to consumers and being stuck in a rut for years.
Time will tell on performance and value.
