Brits Express Gratitude for Being Disarmed after Latest Terror Attack

By David Codrea

Good thing the carnage wasn’t caused with guns. Right?

Ammoland Shooting SportsUSA – -(Ammoland.com)- “In the aftermath of London attack, some Brits praise their strict gun laws,” The Washington Post “reports” approvingly. “Britain was rocked by a terrorist attack at the center of its capital Wednesday, but there was also a widespread sense that things could have been worse.”

The implication is that’s because the subjects of the Queen – including, generally, the police – don’t carry guns. And by extrapolation, reader inference is that being disarmed makes everyone safer (at least among those who believe correlation equals causation).

UK gun law summary per GunPolicy.org

According to all credible measures, that’s the way most Brits like it. While there is a small segment of the UK population active in promoting the shooting sports and abolishing the Firearms Acts that banned, among other firearms, centerfire semi-automatic rifles and handguns, the sympathies of the general public are pretty much where their rulers want them to be:

“A 2010 poll from YouGov found just 4 percent of the country wanted gun control relaxed, a figure dwarfed by the 31 percent who thought all guns should be completely banned.”

That latter assumption relies on wishful thinking that complete prohibition is possible, and that things won’t quickly change. The problem is, things are changing, and quickly, as evidenced by the fact that Islamist terror attacks occur in London. And that reflects the reality of immigration policies that, rather than assimilating disparate cultures, leave groups with different values and goals occupying the same turf.

The collective memory is short, and those not directly impacted appear not to have taken seriously (or personally)  the threat of Michael Adebowale, a British-born Muslim convert from the Nigerian immigrant community who butchered an off-duty soldier in 2013:

“You and your children will be next … You people will never be safe.”

That’s not quite true – some will be safer than others, for instance, per The Daily Mail, “the attacker was shot by a bodyguard of Defence Secretary Michael Fallon…”

Rather than choose the way established by the men who broke away from George III, the Brits have instead embarked on a very different path:

“The law and order solution, according to Dame Stella Rimington, the former head of MI5 who, per Mail Online affirms, ‘The enemy is everywhere,’ is to recruit ‘the British people to inform security services if they suspect their neighbors maybe extremists.’

“She said further terror attacks on the UK were inevitable unless the country became a ‘police state,’” the report continued. That means being able to protect themselves as government policies devolve their culture into chaos will not be an option for ordinary people, as a ‘monopoly of violence’ remains the exclusive province of the state.

“People there may come to regret that too late. And people here need to mind what is unfolding there as a foreshadowing of where those who would disarm us are trying to lead us.

It’s their choice, but it doesn’t have to be ours. That’s provided we prevail against “progressive” gun-grabbing globalists bent on culturally terraforming the Republic to better suit their unchallenged control.

But it does make it fair to resurrect a question I’ve asked before on several occasions:

Would you?

Ourageously, when the danger had passed, government trust in the people went away, guns were destroyed and the people for the most part, obeyed in the “cleansing of firearms.” [Source: “Guns in Our ‘Bundles for Britain,'” William B. Edwards, GUNS Magazine, December, 1959.]

Stupid people elect stupid people to represent them. Looks like there are a lot of stupid people in England and most of Europe.

jamie

obviously the lessons of thousands of years of tyrants never made a difference

would think whole of europe would learn from hitler at least what happens to a defenseless country

One of the last great Brits, Admiral Sir John Fisher, knew how to “Take care” of this kind of “Problem.” At the Hague Peace Conference of 1899, Fisher spoke on how to attain “Peace” from ones’ enemies: “Hit him in the stomach and kick him when he’s down. Boil his prisoners in oil – if you take any – and torture his women and children. Then, perhaps he’ll leave you alone.” Wise words from Sir John..

Make the ban’s effective; ban all Muslims!

Same sort of gun control B.S. is going on in Canada. At 70 years old I am shocked at how naive some young people can be. It seems to be mainly the young ladies. There will come a day when that will come around and bite them.
There are some really bad people out there just waiting for the chance to take advantage of you. They are big and they are ruthless. Without a gun you are defenseless against them.

“The law and order solution, … is to recruit ‘the British people to inform security services if they suspect their neighbors maybe extremists.’ This is akin to the attitude of the government and the governed in Bradberry’s novel “Fahrenheit 451.” The populace was encouraged (required) to report anyone in possession of “illegal” books. Such a report would cause authorities to raid the offender’s home, ransack the residence in search of the contraband, and torching any books found. Sometimes this resulted in torching the home as well. Citizens were sheep, controlled in a variety of ways to keep them complacent and… Read more »

With crime and terrorism dominating the news these days, I refuse to go anywhere, that I cannot legally carry my 1911 .45 pistol.

Britain is being swallowed alive by IslamoTangos. Say “bye-bye!”

I am amused by the Brits (not all of them of course) who gladly accept the status of being a beta male. Then I look around our country and grimace at what I see here.
My grandparents witnessed major technological changes in their lifetimes. I have witnessed social changes on the same scale. What they witnessed were, for the most part, beneficial; not so much for what I have seen.

Michael Forsman

Well said, Roy.

What is funny is I watched the skynews app live coverage the day of the shooting and multiple security experts all called for more guns in the hands of more police in important areas.

Would I? Today, probably not, as the effort would be wasted given the current state of UK politics. However, the official polls are highly suspect (as they are here), since the attitude of bleating sheep, crying for Big Brother to make them safe, doesn’t correlate with a majority possessed of the courage to ignore all the fear mongering and vote for Brexit. It makes me wonder just how many Brits have something hidden in the back of the closet, waiting for the day when it becomes the only option. It isn’t much different from the circumstances in which my fellow… Read more »

Please give specific examples of how elections in California are ‘rigged’.

if they want to commit suicide – let them

then we come in and destroy isis and get a new vacation disneyland island

let the cleansing of the stupid begin

Herbster

The cleansing needs to begin with the wimp Prime Minister and the Muslim sympathizing Muslim Mayor of the once great city of London. The ones that survive in England better pray for another Churchill or Thatcher. Otherwise, they are well on their way to joining France and Germany on the dustbin of history.

CarlosPerdue

We’re not far behind. Global dunce RINO “Guest Worker” Bush imported nearly a million Muslims after 911 during a “war on terror”, and of course President Hussein imported even more.

jamie

big difference between us and britain

we already got millions of guns but they trust government as know best for you

so really we are way off of what they have there since we can and will shoot back and tell government just piss off

Carlos Perdue

Oh well it’s all good then, no problemo.

now to ban all knives and sharp objects

John Dunlap

If I recall correctly, it is already illegal to carry any sort of knife there unless it is related to a trade, and only while engaged in that trade. I’ve also read that a license is required, similar to Japan, to own a knife over a certain length (six inches, I think), and with the exception of chefs, it is illegal to possess a knife with a sharp point! I would assume there is some sort of license required to declare yourself a chef. I don’t believe they’ve gotten around to passing a law prohibiting running with scissors.

We are expected to believe that the terrorists, out of respect for Britain’s anti-gun laws, chose meat cleavers, knives, and motor vehicles to carry out their massacres. I see by another comment that there are laws restricting the possession of knives; when will people who make laws get around to the cleavers and motor vehicles?

The political class always tells us what they are going to do before they do it; it seems to be some sort of moral imperative in their sociopathic culture. They just don’t tell us directly, or publicize it much. Their apparent end goal is detailed in Aldous Huxley’s “Brave New World”, which he wrote as a warning. it’s all there, albeit in much rosier language, in Agenda 21 and its successor, Agenda 2030. There’s actually an official UN website about it. All you really have to do is look at what is being done in leftist controlled states. In other… Read more »
