MANDEVILLE, La. -(Ammoland.com)- On this week’s episode of Guns & Gear, we’ll feel the difference with Ruger’s new 10/22 Takedown Heavy Barrel.

Then, we put new ammo to the test!

We’ll hit the range with DoubleTap Ammunition’s Colt Defense Ammunition, and do a ballistic gel test with VOR-TX ammunition from Barnes Bullets.

And, if you’re looking for a fun way to train without any ammo, tune in for a look at LaserLyte’s Master Module Trainer, great for training at home or at the range.

Plus, don’t miss a one-box drill from Paul Markel, and pro-tips from Surefire, Mossberg, and more!

I have a lot of sport barreled.22LR rifles and two heavy barrel target ones (a Kimber 82G and a Ruger 10/22T, but not a takedown). I shoot passably well with the sport barrels and superbly with the heavy barrels. I lust after a 10/22 HB Takedown and expect someday to have one.

Heavy barreled 22s? I have to ask why? I’ve been shooting 22s for 60 years and have never shot a 22 of any brand that wouldn’t hit what you aimed at if you did your job on the butt end. Crap ammo has always been the problem. ALWAYS ! The only exception being a leaded barrel because someone shot a LOT of crap ammo and wouldn’t clean their gun. 22 aren’t supposed to weigh 5-7!pounds for petes sake.
