MURFREESBORO, Tenn. – Outdoor Life Gun and Optics Test Team awarded the Barrett Sovereign Rutherford over and under shotgun the 2017 Editor’s Choice at the 146th NRA Annual Meetings and Exhibits.

“Outdoor Life is one of the oldest and most respected publications in the business. The honor of receiving this recognition from such an authority is humbling,” said Chris Barrett, President.

The Gun and Optics test panel consists of an unbiased group of outdoorsman and avid users who spend a week testing and evaluating the finest new products available.

The shotgun portion of the evaluation involves thousands of clay birds and rounds and as many different shooting scenarios as possible to get the best understanding of a gun’s performance.

Before the shooting begins, the team thoroughly inspects the fit, finish and mechanics of each product, establishing baseline data to take to the range.

The Rutherford over and under is one of the newest models in the Barrett Sovereign line. The steel body box lock action is coin finished with a custom engraving. The receivers are scaled to their respective gauges, which include 12, 20, 16 and 28.

The polished blue barrels are fully chrome lined, available in 26” and 28” lengths and come with 5 interchangeable choke tubes and choke tube wrench.
