Alliant Powder

RADFORD, Va. -(Ammoland.com)- Alliant Powder, a leading manufacturer of smokeless powders, offers precision and action shooters consistent, clean-burning propellant with the release of its new Sport Pistol powder. Shipments of the new powder are being delivered to dealers now.

Sport Pistol provides extremely reliable cycling, excellent charging and case fill, and ballistics that lend themselves to a range of popular loads.

Sport Pistol also delivers precise performance with all bullet types, but the low-muzzle-flash formulation was optimized for polymer-coated bullets. Other double-base powders can dissolve the polymer coatings at the bullet base, exposing the lead to vaporization due to the intense heat during the ballistic cycle.

The medium-fast burning Sport Pistol is also very temperature stable, so there is little velocity deviation to worry about at seasonal competitions.

Features & Benefits:

@OV, A dollar now, buys what a dime used to buy. Someday, a can of corn will cost $1,000.

old vet: Re my comment on ever escalating component prices, the list price of this new powder for instance, you mentioned the escalation of petroleum prices. Point taken, however I note that oil prices go up and they go down. Component prices, powder, primers, jacketed projectiles seem to move in only one direction, upward. Strange isn’t it, or is it? Otherwise, I first reloaded ammunition, rifle rounds on an RCBS Jr. press that I bought in Minnesota, dies included, for the grand price of about $25.00 out the door, no sales tax then, in 1965 or 1966, don’t know when… Read more »

@Albbac2 and OV, not to intrude, but remember Barry Soetoro devalued the dollar at the beginning of his first term so that he could pay the Chinese back what we owed them. That is one of the reasons that everything seems so expensive, now days.

Since my indoor range has banned polymer coated bullets I can’t get excited over this new powder, no matter how good it might be.

Alan

What is or might be the problem with polymer coated bullets? I find myself curious.

don’t know where the 11 came from.

What is this “11” you reference, please clarify.

Alan

Strikes me that the cost of reloading components, powder, primers and such have gotten absolutely, completely ridiculous as exampled by the posted prices of this powder, $27+/pound.
